Actually, that's how you would have done it if you had started the thread. Good finds though. That Golden Country isn't near the song it was when Gary Richrath was their guitar player.

Allman Brothers, hell any solo.

I always dug Tom Morello back in his hardcore (see: first two Rage Albums) Some of his solo work, while not long winded and difficult from a playing stand point, fit the music perfect. "Freedom" off their first Album is a good example.

Rage Against the Machine, their political mumbo-jumbo aside, could really capture a feeling with their songs. While some think they're garbage I think those first two albums were beyond great. After that I was done with them because that whole "I'm pissed" can only go so far. They were not very dynamic, but the one thing they knew how to do they did it great.

Chuck Berry - Johnny be good!

The first electric guitar song I ever learned!

A few (off the top of my head):

Eddie VH: Eruption
Steve Vai: The entire Passion and Warfare album
Hendrix: Little Wing and Watchtower
Zeppelin: Stairway
Metallica: Fade to Black, One
Pantera: Cemetary Gates
Skynyrd: Freebird
Pink Floyd: Comfortably Numb
Dire Straits: Sultans of Swing
Eagles: Hotel California
GNR: Sweet Child
Clapton: Layla (sorry, had to do it!)

One of my favorite bands ever. Not sure how anyone could ever call them garbage, unless they are perhaps musically challenged (country music fans).

Was at the show in KC at Summer Jam 79' REO proclaimed it was their favorite concert ever. Crazy Lightning, rain and thunder. The power got knocked out for a bit while they were on stage. When they played Riding the Storm Out, the place exploded. Seen Randy Rhodes, Eddie Van Halen, Gary Gilmore and many more guitar greats live. Gary Richrath can hold his own.

YouTube - REO-Speedwagon live 1985 157 Riverside Avenue

GNR - November Rain has some good solos. While not the shreds that Slash normally does, they're very melodic and fit in very well with the song as a whole.

I can think of several bands with very good guitar driven songs but it is hard for me to name one that stands out due to a guitar solo. I am thinking about bands such as Mountain, Janes Addiction and The Cult.
