Anybody else notice that Worley didn't keep the ball at least one time against OU. He has kept it at least once the past 2 games. I wonder if they are holding out for sec play cause it was open a lot last night and even though we may not win the east I think we will be in every game this year. Go Vols!

I don't think coaches hide stuff in the playbook nearly as often as fans think.

I think he was getting hit enough last night and didnt want to take more punishment. We played well. Worley played like a beast in the face of some serious pressure. I think he may have a concussion to be honest after his head snapped back on the ground. I am proud of how he played last night. Butch had us ready and we competed. The pick 6 in the endzone was a 14 point swing. Wish we would have run there, but its easy to say that in hindsight. No reason to hang our heads. Played like winners last night and its gonna be a good season.

That really is a good point. The idea of a keep here and there seems good, but in a 24 point loss, whether the keep was there or not, I'm glad he didn't try it.

IMO Worley is gonna have to start keeping it a little . With the oline being what it is he's gonna have to make the defense worry about him running it . That way they won't be able to pin their ears back going after him quite as much . That's my only criticism of Worley's play through the first 3 games . He been a good leader , and he throws the ball well . He spreads the ball around really well too . We do have a read option offense though , so he will have to keep occasionally for it to work properly

That's 'cause JW is running a variation of the spread known as the"pocket spread" . :dunno:

Sorry Tim. I guess I just look to much into it. He was getting pounded a lot last night but there were times it seemed he could have walked for a first down. He played well though.

It's well documented that I think that a QB running around is completely overrated but . . . one thing it definitely can do is cover up for a deficient o-line.

I didn't see any walkers... I did see a lot of this though:

They were all over our backfield. Not just one guy. Multiple. On every play.

If I didn't know better, I'd think Stoops called ahead and made reservations.

Worley didn't need any more hits than he already took. We still wouldn't have won the game with him keeping a few, but we might have gotten him knocked out.

Amen! Talk about meltdown mode. Worley is our leader on Offense. Gotta be healthy for SEC play. I'm still worried he is concussed. He is definitely sore today.

I don't think any coach would forbid his QB taking advantage of open field when it's there for the taking.

He made 9 yds on the one play that he did take off last night. I don't know why he doesn't use that option. He's so tuned in on finding an open receiver that maybe he doesn't possess the instincts to notice the open field in front of him. I wish he would since I think it could make a critical difference in upcoming games.

There were times last night where we were screaming at the wide screen for him to tuck it and run. I would bet that most everyone did because it was clear that he couldn't spot anyone open and the field was open on several occasions. But his head may have been swimming from the punishment he was getting from the lack of pass protection. I imagine there were some birdies singing in the background.

It doesn't add up. Check #2 of the comments section where some sports pundit states Jones declares it a running scheme, not a read option. Govols247: Bob Stoops praises Vols QB Justin Worley - GoVolsXtra Story

Anybody else have an idea why the right tackle hands the end off to... nobody. "Pardon the interruption, sir. Your table it ready."

I too, do not believe this is a read option. If it were and your Qb didn't tuck the ball and run on numerous occasions that have been available this and last year, said Qb would be watching on the sideline.
