The length of a coordinator's contract is really irrelevant. They almost uniformly have provivions allowing the coach to leave for a head coaching position.

1. I'll be shocked if Steve Mariucci isn't the next coach at Michigan State.
2. I'd be even more surprised to see mini-Fulmer venture out of the South.

Why would Cutliffe want to coach MSU. The only thing to achieve there is get overshadowed by Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, Wisconson, Iowa, and Penn State on a yearly basis.

I know Butch davis did a great job at Miami, but I don't understand all the hype.

The folks here in Northwest AR, are beside themselves that Arkansas didn't get him.

Am I missing something, didn't he have a nervous breakdown coaching the Browns?

If you don't understand the hype, you must not have seen the '01 Canes play. Davis put together a team so good that Larry Coker won one National Title and had another one stolen in his first two years.

They were saying that Izzo has told Mariucci that they aren't as committed to football as he would want, and they wouldn't spend the money he would want spent on new facilities, recruiting budgets, etc... That's when Cut's name was brought up. Remember, money talks. If Cut is offered $1.2 million a year, nobody could blame the guy for leaving. Let's all hope Mariucci goes! I think we will be in contention for another NC within 5 years if Cut sticks around. Oh yea, it wouldn't hurt getting Rodney Garner back from UGA either.

Have you looked at the recruiting base of Miami vs NC, and he wasn't on Xanax in 2001.

Butch Davis recruited a good portion of the talent on that '01 team when Miami was on probation. He'll get Top 10 classes at UNC. He and Nick Saban are the two best recruiters in college football in the last decade.

Miami=See Florida State, pending the hiring of a new coach.
BC=Done when Tom O'Brien inevitably leaves for the NFL.
GA Tech=You're kidding, right?
Va Tech=College Football's biggest fraud.

I have thought about that as well, but I know several people in western NC who grow up loving the Vols. I think the pipeline will be partially blocked, but UT will still steal some talent from the hills.

They are in fact still powder blue North Carolina. Butch will do better but wouldn't expect him to throw up a recruiting wall no one can get around for NC.
