I'm sure he's still an analyst. I still think there are no restrictions on how many off-field analysts a team can have.

Yet, every Saturday, there is brick-layer himself on the Bama sidelines. How does it get on the field as an analyst?

Butch might be a higher grade of "analyst." As far as I know, teams have analysts that are on the field and off the field. The on-field guys assist the coaches but cannot coach players. The off-field guys are up in the box during games charting plays and such.
