that's all the offense we can get with 2 weeks to prep? Also why the hell is Josh Smith still on the field, dude drops a critical ball in every game

We should have known when Dooley beat him we might be in trouble. I like Butch as a person and salesman for UT but his coaching and assistants leave a lot to be desired. I am willing to see what he does with this great class he has coming in. If not competing with the big dogs in 2 more years its time for something else.

2 more season's and his ass will be packing too if he don't make some major upgrades in game plans!

He has work to do. Seems like something has changed in his play calling or someone else has the control, and they are pitiful.

Stone hands shouldn't have been at UT. We have to stop recruiting these Knoxville kids just because they grew up fans of UT

...and by IT I mean getting his a$$ kicked by the other SEC coaches.

I think Butch will be a good and hopefully great coach..but just like his coach speak press conferences where he says it's a learning curve, develop toughness, learn to win etc Jones is still learning himself..yes he has had success in the past but not against the same level of talent and pressure of the SEC. Tonight imo the whole team played tight and a little scared(Dobbs sure did) and I believe this is a reflection of the coaching staff. A lot less pressure playing against teams you aren't supposed to beat(toughest schedule in history etc) After having 2 weeks to prepare and talking about closing strong, make a bowl game etc the team came out flat and seemed to have psyched themselves out before the game even started. Jones looked nervous or cold all night...take a while to get over this one..just hope we can hold our recruiting class together~ Go Vols

As coaches they should know that. Make em walk ons and never let them walk on the field.

I will say this....his comment to hire the "Best staff in America" has proven to be a clear con job. It faked Hart into opening up the checkbook to hire BIG NAME/BIG RESULTS staff members. Once Hart did that, Butch cleverly called an audible, brought in his old staff and used the fat budget to hand his buds a massive pay raise. One they haven't earned, and who had/have proven nothing at this level of football.

Might be able to fake out the AD and the fans for a while. But you can't fake out the opposing teams in the SEC with that BS.

The Farm Bureau commercial makes me nauseous now.

Why do we keep hiring guys that are good PR reps and crap coaches?

Why do I even care anymore?

What gets me is I am starting to get the feeling he is just a crap talker just like Dooley. Brick by brick, its a process, all excuses for not winning.

To hell with winning right now, at least show some signs you are getting better, especially with two weeks to prepare for Vandy!!

Yeah i said 4 years for Butch. I may be wrong unless he does some major upgrades to his coaching staff. That was about as bad a offensive gameplan as i've ever saw. Played butt tight not to lose in the second half and it cost them..

He stubbornaly stuck to his hurry up and punt offense. The Clawfense was more prolific than this mess. That kind of stubborn scheme got Rich Rod run out of Michigan (after taking them to their worst season in history)

The optimist in me sees that Butch's teams improve in their second year. We can only hope they turn it around next year He has shown so far he cannot or will not adapt
