Donnie is as soft as they come. Also there was no ice in that bucket of water

He's a little doughy. Hmmm just add butter.

I hate to say it, but most charities are rackets. The Admin staff take a huge chunk of donations. I admire the ones who distribute 80% or more to the people who need it.

The issue lies with the pharmaceutical companies. An estimated 30,000 people have ALS in the US. From a guy that's been involved in the drug research field the last 3 years, 30,000 simply isn't enough to provide the billions it would take to find a cure. That sounds so cruel, but it's reality. To put ALS in perspective, people with IBD aka Crohn's disease or UC, don't have a cure nor an understanding as to why it happens. IBD affects over 1 million ppl in the US, yet research for the cause and cure for IBD has just recently became a big deal in the medical research world. I think it's so cool that the ALS awareness has taken off like it has; however, the only way this truly helps is if these multimillionaires start donating real money to the cause, and even then, as mentioned already in this thread, you cant be certain that donation will be used as it is supposed to be. People love getting rich off others good deeds and misfortunes, and the pharmaceutical companies are some of the most greedy organizations on the earth.

Over Under on Donnie Tydall yrs at UT??

3

He's got a long way to go to gain the confidence of the Vol nation. So many folks formulate their opinions on appearance these days and he doesn't look like a D1 basketball coach. Hasn't brought a new vibe to the program yet like I sense CBJ has with football.

Hoping for the best however. :good!:

I respectfully disagree. I believe Donnie is exactly what we need at UT. Pearl put the notion in all of VolNation's minds that UT could be a power house in basketball. Though I agree that we can return as a consistent top 25 team year in and year out, we can only do it playing a specific type of basketball. I try to be as realistic as possible when evaluating all of UT sports without putting to much emotion into it. When you look at our program as a whole starting when Pearl got here you will see a pattern between a specific style of play and the amount of games won. Pearl's best years here where his first 3-4 when he pressed nonstop. That's when we were the most dangerous and the most fun to watch. Even though his fifth year here was technically his best year here, I feel the years leading up to year five really defined the style of basketball UT had to play every year to be competitive. Donnie will bring pressing defense and offensive energy back to TBA. It will be fun to watch and it will draw positive attention to our program. We will never out recruit the big dogs in basketball, but we won't have to if we play with lots of energy and press nonstop. The two keys for Donnie will be executing in the half court on offense, and recruiting talented big men. If we can get a scoring post, a true PG, and some athletes and shooters, and we can do this consistently in recruiting, we will return to our rightful place among the top 25-30 best programs in the NCAA in basketball.

If Florida can become a power in basketball, there is absolutely no reason that Tennessee cannot become a power in men's hoops, too. The history and facilities are already here. By "power" I mean a top ten to top fifteen type program every season.

Sometimes we as fans limit the possibilities with our own modest expectations.

I was referring to the OP who stated that we could be a top 25 or 30 program each year. With due respect to the OP, I believe his expectations were too modest.

As a general rule, modesty is in far too short supply around here.
