Let me start by saying this. I'm not calling him the second coming of the general, and I'm not saying he's the new messiah...but what I am saying is that he has given us something that has been missing for a very long time. Heart.

Neyland has been a quiet, empty shell of itself for many years now. Fans are loyal and have come to see if "this was the game to turn it around" time and time again, but have left with possibly more sorrow than before they came. We wanted to see improvement, a team that loves the game, and a team to play for 4 quarters with any team. Fellow vol fans....we are seeing this. Life has come back to the stadium and we have something to be proud of. Neyland is the stadium again that use to convert fans just by them being there and feeling the energy. This is my favorite thing that Butch has given us.

My wife grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and was an Ohio state fan...until the LSU game in 2001. The energy there converted her and she's been loyal since. The energy is back and the coaches along with team 117 are owed a huge thank you by all of us.

Wouldn't trade him for Saban, he's got all his principles, then some! And something even better, he's personable. You don't have to be a self loathing prick to be a good coach! Love me some Coach Jones!

I wouldn't trade coach Jones for any coach around. I was more than happy when we hired him as our coach. I watched him coach at Cincy and I always liked his fire. GO VOLS!

Butch is 100% invested in this program. You can tell this is his dream job and he wouldn't want to be anywhere else. Whether it's making the fans the player of the game against Georgia or inviting over 200 former Vols to run through the T. Butch truly does get it and I think that's why Vol fans have more hope than ever before

Jones is at least as good of a recruiter as Saban, IMO.

Bama simply has far more to sell than UT right now. Once CBJ gets us rolling, he's going to be going toe to toe with Saban on the top recruits.

And then it boils down to....do you want to play for a coach who invites you to his house and cooks you dinner, or do you want to play for a guy who steps over his players when they're convulsing on the ground?

Thread title is misleading. I thought this was about John Ward.

I thought at first back last winter or spring when I heard CBJ say that,it was more coach speak,so on and so on... After seeing things at the O&W game and this past weekend with the Vol Walk, the 200-300 VFL's running through the T, and that grin when he was kneeling after Palardy kicked the game winner, and he just sat there on his knee smiling, I truly believe everything he has said about this is where he thinks his dream job is... and I love him for it...

Jones has playing time to sell right now bro!

I too watched him closely at Cincy. Knew about him long before he was named coach. Was thrilled when I heard it announced and remain so today. He will lead us out of the wilderness !!!!!

I'd rather have Butch Jones and loose every game than have Derek Dooley and win them all. I never liked Dooley from day 1 till the day he left.

Butch Jones has the drive and determination to win~ That's why he accomplished in 7 games what Dooley couldn't in 3 years.... Beat a ranked team

He and his staff have exceeded even the most optimistic fans' expectations. Team 117 has confidence and pride...I have enjoyed watching them this year and can't wait to watch them this Saturday. GBO!!!

I agree with the sentiment of this thread, CBJ is a good coach who is possibly on his way to being a great one, and he has breathed new life into this program. Now, lets all remember this over the next few weeks if things don't go so well :)

If I didn't know better, I would think that CBJ had been a Vol his whole life. You can tell how much he loves his players, and the whole program in general, and just by the passion that he shows. I believe that his blood does indeed run orange!

The point the OP is making, is a good one.

That Neyland has returned to the MAJOR home field advantage that it used to be!!!:rock::rock:

To paraphrase Yamamoto: "Butch has awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve!"
