He also was coaching SinSinatti. With players that you had to talk into attending Cincinnati. Playing an SEC school.

Not exactly apples to apples.

I agree with you. It's Tennesse and cincinati.Tennessee should stop them.I know this much Butch Jones is more qualified than Drooley was.

And his first year at Alabama he lost to louisiana Monroe. At least Dooley never lost a game like that.

Exactly..My point to him was one game doesnt define you as a coach. We had much better players than cincy and their offense gave our D fits the whole game. They just didnt have the guys on D. That same season after they played UT, they lost their QB and various other injuries and still had a very good season.

Colorado was going to give this guy a 5 year contract....update all facilities including the stadium. I think UT has got the right guy for the job.

We'll see. I seriously doubt this will be anything other than another disaster. A lot will depend on how his staff shapes up but my guess is that he'll bring most, if not all of his current guys with him as most coaches do. I don't see that staff being able to compete with the big dogs in this league.

Nick Saban lost to Watson Brown. Urban Meyer lost to Rocky Long. Steve Spurrier lost to Gene Chizik. Yeah, they all suck.

While not completely disqualifying him from being able to succeed, his performance against Dooley is still a legitimate concern. Of the scant Dooley wins vs. somewhat respectable opponents, this was the only one I felt he and his coaching staff actually noticeably out coached the other coaching staff. That was with Wilcox on the staff, but its still a legitimate concern.

They never made any adjustment to stop Hunter, got snake bit by a great gamble by Dooley to on side kick to get ahead in what started as a track meet, and stopped scoring with Tennessee after some adjustments Tennessee made in the Second Quarter. In addition, they got stuffed on the 4th and inches. Were it not for an late turnover that resulted in Bear Cat points, this thing would have been an absolute bloodbath.

I'll also point out, this is the only game a Dooley staff defended the Read Option with any consistency.

All three of those guys have won National Championships and have a proven track record of being able to win conference titles. Butch Jones is a great threat to get to the Music City Bowl if things go just right.... Tell me who Butch has beaten that is worth anything and I'll try to get the least bit excited....

the offensive talent dooley had was good for 8 wins this year and maybe more. he turned it into 5. dooley couldnt coach the talent he had. i have faith jones can do this.
