I have noticed it game after freaking game...from his playcalling to other decisions....he reels .of being overly conservative...our coaching staff flat out gave up on that last ut possession and are playing not to get even more blown out....3 straight runs in our side oc the field really?????? Not sold on this staff yet.

I am sold on this staff, but I agree with you that we're playing too conservatively. Remember all of those fourth down conversions against Georgia? If we're serious about trying to win this game, we need to hurry up and start taking some chances on both sides of the ball.

I actually think that aggressive 4th down call at the beginning of the game put us in a bad spot

too conservative. I would argue he should have punted in the first Q rather than go for it on 4th and 5. they went down for a TD as a result

Second half against Ga is best half of play calling all year. Very aggressive and a lot of mixed play calls.

When your best unit( O line) can't run block, pass block or wait until the ball is snapped before they move...you tend to get conservative.

It was 4th down from the Missouri 35 yard line. The 50% chance of a conversion there was worth the risk of losing 15-20 yards in field position. It's easy to second-guess in retrospect because it didn't work out, but mathematicians have done studies showing that most football coaches are too conservative.

My question is this....do we even let Butch Jones on the plane after the game? It is time to give up on this pipe dream of Butch Jones being our savior. We need a real time coach. I say we fire Butch and Hart and put all our money after a real coach......Jon Gruden. Let this team go coachless until Gruden is hired. Teams back in the late 1800s often didn't even have a coach and they did fine. The players are capable of coaching themselves just like they did in the old days....it couldn't be any worse than it is now. Lease out the rights of Neyland to corporate interests if you have to in order to get the money for Gruden...our only chance is Jon F'in Gruden. Until this team hires him, we are irrelevant and the laughingstock of the SEC and the nation.

he was one yard from fg range. I'd rather try for that. not saying I don't trust in butch....he clearly doesn't have the talent to compete....he is doing what he can

I can't do it this week but I will fight you next week after the Auburn game. I am sure we will lose with Butch coaching us. I will beat you down, no question about that. I will feint a jab to the midsection, and then come up top with the left hook.

you have every reason to be sold on them....after all we have the best coaching staff in college football...did you see how well coached they were in holding their hands up to signify the 4th quarter will belong to them and running to the other end of the field...almost brought me to tears with pride....its just unfortunate that time spent on those activities took time away from practicing plays...

The odds of converting a 52 yard field goal (33%?) are less than getting five yards for a first down (50%), and getting a first down preserves the chance of coming away with 7 points at the end of the drive.

I'm telling you, people have done studies proving that football coaches are too conservative on fourth down: Shankar Vedantam - Go for It on Fourth Down, Coach? Maybe You Should Ask an Egghead.

We got bigger problems than worrying about conservative coaching. We can't tackle if our lives depended on it. Mizzou is. I Blame that on Janzek and his defensive staff.

On offense, they played Josh Smith and once again, his dropped passes bite us in the arse. And OL false starts have killed most every drive, except for the turnovers.

I think this team HAS to find a way to get up early in the game on the road, or they tend to just pack it in mentally.
