Butch Jones Presser Post Missouri

While I agree with what you said, don't compare Butch to Majors. Majors already won a national championship before coaching at UT.

Seems to me, he was saying even a championship coach needed time. He was not saying CBJ is Majors.

Those 20 freshman are CBJ recruits. Do you think they just let you walk on? You have to try out. I m not criticizing just stating a fact.

Are you making the point that freshmen and walkons are at an equal advantage to top-10 teams' players?

No, i am making the point that some are saying that when Cbj gets his recruits here. Blah blah. The freshmen ARE his and walk ons are not just crap players or CBJ wouldn't be playing them. I am saying as i have said before, this loss was a collective effort and adjustments have to be made. The coaches must make the adjustments. They must learn from the mistakes as the players must also.

Either the freshmen and walk-ons are of equal talent/skill/experience to the teams we've lost to, or they are not. If they are, CBJ has no excuse. If they aren't, he does. Which argument are you trying to make? Again... Would you expect that freshmen and walk-ons are on equal footing with seasoned, SEC quality. top-10 team starters?

The freshmen ARE his and walk ons are not just crap players or CBJ wouldn't be playing them.

Unless he is an idiot, CBJ is playing the best players he has at each position. The fact that he is playing freshmen and walk-ons should tell us something about his overall roster.

If freshmen and walk-ons are playing, what adjustments should the coaching staff be making? Please be specific.

CBJ should clearly pray more.

What adjustments needed to be made? I am not trying to call you out but to make a blanket statement of "adjustments need to be made" is not fair to the coaches point something out so it can be discussed.

The difference with the recruits is you are right our freshmen are more talented than their freshmen but they were playing juniors and seniors who have been in a system under the same coach for 3-4 years.

I am with you I am sick of posters saying adjustments need to be made or that the scheme is bad be specific with what they think is wrong so it can be discussed. I believe most on here have no clue about adjustments or scheme and blame everything that goes wrong on one or the other.

I believe most on here are posting based purely on emotional reactions.

Dudes, chill.

Everyone freaking out about our blowout loss needs to realize that it wouldn't have been such a blowout if not for 3 turnovers, from a freshman, in his first game EVER, against the #9 ranked team in the nation.

I can't speak for the lack of effort and the quitting that many posters are saying occured during the game. Like Coach Jones says, "The cream will rise to the top". At this time Jones doesn't have much choice to play these guys who are starting simply because of lack of depth. After he gets his recruits in do you really think something like quitting during a big game is gonna fly? These guys are gonna be praying for gametime with the way Butch keeps recruiting.

A first year coach with a win against a ranked opponent in the SEC = more recruits for the next years.

All I gotta say is this: immediate playing time. Recruits hear that.

If a player is not executing then the coaches need to bench them and dont say they don't have anyone to replace them with. They need to adjust the play calling to help dobb's. he can't be expected to run it himself or throw most of the time. Run game needs alot of adjustment. Have to mix it up. Our lines, off and def needs their butts kicked in practice this week. There has to be speed out of 130 players. I could name some but i am not gonna do that and get flamed, just like i am not gonna single out a coach or player. Like i said its a collective effort. Coaches plus players.

I agree totally with the players we have seen these players take poor tackiling angles from game one and it is not getting better. If they are not working on it and getting better in practice put some one in who wants to learn abd get better.

I think Dobbs did not help him self with some of the decisions he made and then no one around him stepped up and helped him. I did not have a real problem with offensive game plan.

Why not? Why not say that? You can't just tell us not to say it and then ignore any reason not to say it, save a floundering "must have someone better lower down the roster" argument. Please give us specifics as to who would replace them, and thus why we can't say there's no one to replace them. Prove us wrong.

So wait a minute... They need to call plays differently, fewer passes, even though you claim our running game is ineffective, and our lines suck. They need to "mix up" all those ingredients? It seems to me that you're saying the coaching staff doesn't have much to work with, which would argue against your "just mix it up" argument.

There has to be speed out of 130 players. I could name some but i am not gonna do that and get flamed, just like i am not gonna single out a coach or player.

There "has to be"? But you won't tell us specifically who that is. There just "has to be". I'm sure if you gave some specific, legitimate proof that goes beyond "has to be", you would not get flamed. As a matter of fact, I'm sure that specific, legitimate backing to your argument would win you some support and agreement.

Like i said its a collective effort. Coaches plus players.

It is a collective effort, and I'm sure our coaching staff would like to do some things differently. But this team is a "collective effort", just as a flambe is a collective effort. A chef mixes ingredients to produce a product. The chef can only make what he has ingredients for.
