Makes ya wonder how some people can get totally bent out of shape from losing a football game, huh?

Great insight and truly shows the character of our coach. I believe coach will make us proud on and off the field.

One thing I have noticed about Butch that seems to go a bit unrecognized is his ability to handle pressure, and as a result, his ability to coach his players to handle pressure. It seemed like last year for the most part Tennessee performed best at crunch time. That's something we haven't seen in a long time. We didn't choke in the Georgia game, we lost by a freak accident. We don't choke in what could have been a disastrous South Alabama game when they made a very unexpected comeback. The Vandy game..... well the the football gods just hated us that game.

I can say for sure no matter how good I was at kicking field goals, at the end of the South Carolina game I would have ripped that thing 40 feet to the right and blown the whole game. Honestly, Palardy in 2012 would have shanked it as well. Butch seems to get very calm in high pressure situations, as do his players. It gives me hope that in the future if we can just keep the game close by the 4th quarter we have a shot at upsetting anyone.

You hear CBJ say it all the time "Poise, relax"

As someone who lost their father as a teen and dealt with the aftermath of that......I learned more about Butch from that interview than I have anything else since he has been here.

That was not easy for him, even as an adult and it speaks very well of him that he carries that with him in a positive way and that is why we here these kids keep talking about family after meeting with Butch. You are a winner Butch regardless of how it goes here at UT.

Butch has proven to us he is an excellent off the field General. If he could now just master the "on the field" part of the equation....

Good points here and very true. I've rewatched the South Carolina game on TV several times (I was actually in Neyland that day) and every time I'm amazed at how Jones is just takin' a knee on the sideline watching the kick, cool as a cucumber. Dude doesn't even move as the kick goes in and everyone is running onto the field. Just cool as ice over there. It was awesome.

I believe he also shed a tear at that moment.

I imagine a lot of grown men did in that moment. I know I did.

People were going nuts up in my section. The whole stadium was eerily quiet until the kick actually went through, and then it erupted. Can't say I blame them. After all the bad luck we've seen over the last few years, surely memories of Mt. Cody's boobs were flopping in their minds.

Nice, yeah I remember watching on tv and thinking "Man, if Palardy shanks this kick, he's not gonna make it out the stadium alive".

Can second that. I lost my father at the age of five and it's admirable to see him continue on and utilize it as a strength and teaching point for the young men of his football team. Proud to have CBJ as our head coach, I truly hope he restores our great football program to excellence.
