I know Tn has to have a broad recruiting base but other teams are also throwing out offers all across the country, not just TN. But, the difference in offers is incredible, Butch and co are outworking everyone by a large margin.

# of offers out per 247 (not counting jr college)
AL - 145
AU - 120
AR - 85
FL - 147
GA - 87
KY - 170
LSU - 98
OM - 165
MST - 173
MZ - 70
SC - 107
TAM - 64
TN - 197
VU - 131

It is nice to see but I imagine we were able to take on more recruits this year than most also (especially with all the EE's). So naturally we would make more offers

BAMA should'nt you be more concerned with slowing down play, then what information gathering and effort it takes into offering a young man a chance to play at the greatest university in the country.

I don't think Harvard's coach can make scholarship offers.

I didn't say outbidding

No, you said 'outworking.' When I asked you to give detail, you provided info on what Alabama is doing.

If Butch is outworking everyone by making more offers, I'd like to know what exactly you think that entails.

Can you provide some detail on all the work that goes into making an offer?

Offers smoffers.....What I really wanna know is some details on all the work that goes into trying to get a ncaa rule changed to benefit your school/team when the large majority of other coaches nationally are basically saying show me good reasons to change it.

If it ain't broke.....quit crying bc you can't stop it.

I'm opposed to the proposed rule change, so I have two questions:

1. What does that have to do with the thread topic?

2. What is your point?

Evaluation, evaluation, evaluation. Film, grades, character.

Most schools do this before sending the offer, some don't. Some offer then rescind if they don't fit what they are looking for. Hundreds of kids highlights are 'filtered', mostly by support staff, but not everyone has 30 'analysts' on staff.

1. Guess I'm the first to ever change the subject of a thread on VN. My bad.

2. Saban is a pansy. Play the game like it has been played for 100+ years. Why change it now? Could it be bc he can't stop it?

Let me ask you a question....why would you be opposed to the rule change as a bammer?

Saban and Smart have proven they can't stop the HUNH offenses. They won't be able to stop Butch's offense either once he gets all the talent he needs to do what A&M has done the last two years and auburn this year. I can't wait :)

I'm still not seeing the extra work. Are you suggesting that more offers means more evaluation has been performed? I'm not sure that logic tracks.

Maybe he'll get there. I like Jones. But, I think he should start by doing better than the worst loss in the TSIO rivalry in over 50 years.

Yes , it does. Unless you assume we are just throwing out offers to anyone that will listen.

Okay, hypothetically:

Coach A and Coach B both evaluate the same player. Coach A likes what he sees and makes an offer. Coach B doesn't think the player will contribute and does not make an offer.

By your logic, Coach A has outworked Coach B.

Or, Butch is hitting on every girl in the bar and other coaches are being more selective.
