Lot of the same ol Butch Jones we are all used to by now.

Talked a good bit about having Cam returning punts and he thinks one of the freshman will be ready to handle that soon.

They are having guys like Dobbs and even Evan Berry line up as Chucky on scout team. Thought that was pretty interesting.

Spoke about the advantages of having depth at wide receiver. How important it is to be able to play these guys all over the field. I think he even mentioned possibly seeing Pig operate out of the backfield in some sets

We will be tested
They are extremely talented and disciplined
They have NFL caliber players and can play at this level
They won't be rattled
Keeton can make all the throws and is dangerous with his feet

He did also seem quietly confident about our team though, not sure if others felt the same way i did.

My class lost a total of 5 football games in 3 years of HSFB. Every team we played except for the really ridiculously under talented ones were "very good football" teams... before we went out and smoked them. Smart coaches don't dismiss opponents.

Jones will show you respect (at least in public). There's nothing to be gained by saying "this USU team is overrated based on past teams".

If he called you homecoming fodder then beat you by 20 pts then that's not much of an accomplishment. If he says you are a "very good football team" and beats you by 20 pts... then that looks pretty good on UT. OTOH, if it is a close game or a loss... the last thing he wants is for it to appear he lost to a team that wasn't a "very good football team."

IOW's... don't get too excited over coach-speak.

How many starters did they have to replace again? I remember it being quite a bit. I know they have some veterans, but is it a stretch to call them a veteran team?

Fwiw, I do believe USU is a worthy opponent and I have respect for their program, especially for their player development.

But honestly, what did you expect him to say? That USU isn't to be taken seriously because they play in a ish conference, that their recruiting rankings are woefully bad b/c they're in the triple digits, that they basically have 3-4 decent players in Chuckie and their LBs but everybody else pretty much sucks?
