When the 2 hires were made and the staffs were complete, on paper it looked as though the hogs got the better end of the deal. How do Arky fans feel tonight? 2 blowout losses in 2 weeks. All I can say is thank goodness the decision to hire Coach Jones was made.

The dumbass "experts", including Chris Low, have continuously stated that the Bielema hire was better, that Ark will get back to relevance quicker, that even after Arky's 52-7 blowout loss to SCar last week, that a game between UT and Ark is a pick em game. F all of them... the only question is, in my mind, is what happens first... Butch wins SEC title or Bielema gets fired first? Both happen in the next 3 years IMO.

I said from the start of the search that we should get Malzahn, but I'm still satisfied with Butch. In the next few years, especially when Saban leaves, it could end up being Butch and Gus at the top of the East and West, respectively.

Espn gurus were saying BB would be the 1st new coach to take his team to a bowl. Funny, considering they would be in a dog fight with UK.

I would have never chosen bret over butch. never. His offense would not work in sec

I wouldn't want Bret over Butch in a million years either, but to say his offense wouldn't work is crazy. Smashmouth hard nose running attacks are the standard (or used to be) in the SEC. Very similar in "scheme" to the likes of Bama.

Gus isn't going to be able to keep up with CBJ in recruiting.

Butch is going to recruit on a Saban level.

Arky is only two years from when petrino had them as high as #3 that year if i remember correctly. Surely, their talent level hasnt been decimated that quickly. They should still have a pretty good roster that petrino recruited unless they all left when he was fired.

Listened to the game on the way to the mall with family. Announcers kept talking about "why does it stop running it when it works" and "he needs to stop throwing so much" and all I could think of was how damn glad I was that Chaney was gone.

I don't understand the hate for Chaney

There is a reason Kiffin didn't trust him.

Go back and really study his play calling. He would take our team out of rhythm with his calls. We had UF on the ropes so bad they went on 4th down in the middle of the field. We stopped them and got the ball back and instead of running (which we had been doing well all day) he goes 3 straight deep throws and 3 and out.

It was a very helter skelter coaching style and it hurt us a lot. The only reason we put up numbers is we had 2 bad ass WR's and a gunslinger for a QB. He would out up no points with this QB and team.

No flow or rhythm to his playcalling...predictable tunnel vision...it was an utter mess which resulted in losses...lots of losses...No hate...in fact I like the guy...But we're way better off with an innovative coordinator who makes in game adjustments...kinda like Coach Jake

I hope you're right, but Malzahn did much better than Butch last year.

To the OP...I'm still not ready to declare the Bielema hire a bad one. We're only halfway through the season. Butch could get blown out by Alabama next week too.

But, if Bielema doesn't work out (and assuming Malzahn and Jones do) then maybe the lesson we take from it is that success at one stop isn't as significant as success at multiple places (Jones was a successful HC at two different schools before UT, Malzahn was a hugely successful OC everywhere he went), especially when that one stop is already well built up in terms of talent, support, and tradition.
