That was also CBJ's first and worst Cincinnati team, finishing 4-8, while OK went on to win the Big 12 and finish #6 in CFB.

In 2010 Butch Jones and his 1-2 Cincinnati Bearcats played the 3-0, #8 ranked Oklahoma Sooners and only lost 31-29. I know this has very little relevance to now but it does give me hope.

Oklahoma Sooners vs. Cincinnati Bearcats - Recap - September 25, 2010 - ESPN

I heard this on the radio this morning and I haven't seen it mentioned on Volnation.

Please keep in mind that OU was having to win shootouts almost every game that year thanks to Brent Vulnerables, who just happens to be the DC at Clemson now. He liked to run funky hybrid style defenses and teams were slicing through them like a warm knife through butter.

I'm not expecting a 30 point OU win, but I don't think you'll like OU's current D under Mike Stoops.

Stoops knows how to coach. It'll be hard for UT's O line to keep OU's D line out of their faces and off of Worley. Defensively, keeping Knight contained is the key. Just my 2 cents.

There are lots of reasons to be optimistic, and this is def one.

We're a well coached team. We haven't made many mistakes this season besides some penalties in the first game. One turnover in both games.

I have faith we'll have a good game plan.

Butch at Cincinnati - Oklahoma - 31, Cincinnati - 29. This coaching staff fears no team. Based on that and the player interviews I just watched, Tennessee has a 40-60 chance of pulling the upset!

The logic is bulletproof. Where you got to 40-60 figure, I don't know. I like it though. I think you are alluding to a culture this staff instills in its players. I think to win, we have to strike first, build confidence. Would love to lose the toss, get the ball first and have a TD drive to start the game.

I posted this in another thread earlier.....thought it was very interesting from a statistical point of view....

Sooner's Opponents:
LA Tech '13: 4-8

Tulsa '13: 3-9
______________________________________________
Tennessee's Opponents:
USU '13: 9-5 with a bowl win (Heisman Hopeful QB)

Ark St '13: 8-5 with a bowl win

Interesting stats based on WE'VE played the better teams to start the year off based on this...

Stats based off of FBS Football Statistics through 2 games played...

RANK #28
Oklahoma GAMES 2 PLAYS 149 YARDS 573 YDS/PLAY 3.85 OFF TDS 3 OPP TDS 3 YDS PER GAME 286.5

RANK #29
Tennessee GAMES 2 PLAYS 137 YARDS 575 YDS/PLAY 4.20 OFF TDS 4 OPP TDS 4 YDS PER GAME 287.5

I think this game will have the feel of Alabama vs. West Virginia, UCLA vs Virginia, or Oklahoma St. vs FSU....we will see.
