thought you would like Butch' record as head coach. at Central Michigan 2007 8-6 / 2008 8-5 / 2009 11-3 . in 2009 he was 8-0 in his conference.. 2010 Cincinnati he was 4-8 / 2011 10-3 5/2 conference tied for 1st. 2012 9-3 5/2 conference tied for 1st.. not bad...

For the ones that see the big picture that is great but from the ones that want instant gratification you are about to get slammed.

well we have 100% who want to win.. and about 50% who can wait.. 50% who are just tired of waiting.. but I think Butch can do the job no doubt..It will just take time.

Those who want butch fired don't want a football coach, they want a wizard.

You can't out race a Ferrari with a Moped.

Hyperbole of course but until Butch can get elite talent in here, which according to recruiting sites he is doing, we won't know how great he can make us.

We've seen higher highs with him already than the previous regime. He beat a far more talented team than his. We've also seen him throw out two straight clunkers on the road. We weren't going to win those games, but the team did not compete up to the expected standard.

It's far too early to make any concrete decisions about him. But while he's our coach I'll support him fully and enthusiastically.

Those numbers translate to an ass whooping in the sec. I'm still hoping for the best though.

Let's see, freshman QB making 1st start, freshmen starting in multiple positions, walk ons all over the two deep, lack of quality recruiting for the last 5 years. What could possibly go wrong playing in the SEC and then scheduling Oregon as a filler?
Everyone just bite your lip and let's try to get 2 more wins to get to a bowl game. Until we get some more quality Jimmys and Joes it's not going to get any better.:cray:

The only complaint toward this staff I have is that our offense when it comes to run plays is so simplistic. I recall people on here before Bama saying UT had just as much depth in two deep at RB that Bama did, and how our run game is dominate. I think you now see why people are saying we have no talent running wise. Neal is a hard worker but he's not explosive to the holes. Lane is explosive but has no top end speed. Our oline is a joke right now. Trying to get our big a** guards and tackles to pull in this offense WILL NOT WORK. This team is designed for power football right now, and we don't play any sets of power football. Just because you run the ball up the middle 7/10 times on the same read option play doesn't mean you are playing power football. We need speed for this offense, and we have none other then at WR. This scheme just doesn't fit for our players, and I'm always going to be skeptical of a spread offense in the SEC, until a SEC team dominates everyone playing it day in and day out. A&M has the best spread offense in the SEC and they still line up in power sets sometimes. You can't play in the SEC without some form of power offense aka I-Form or strong sets, etc.

Fair assessment except the comparing MO to a Ferrari.

Look guys, this can still be a very successful season. Coming in, at least in my view, the pinnacle was 3 fold
1. A signature win - check
2. A great recruiting class - check
3. A bowl game - still in reach (and will come down to Vandy....) which is amazing given the schedule!!!

If VolNation thought otherwise then cry your own river for not being realistic.

All in all this can still be a great season. Am I disappointed in some of the games where we were not even competitive? Sure. But I also understand where we are with depth and talent too. Jones will get it done....

Everyone who is freaking out today needs to calm down. We are 4-5 and still have a great chance to make it to a bowl game with a depleted roster and one of the toughest schedules in NCAA history.

Anybody local watch CBJ's show this AM? What were his basic comments? Will be interesting for locals to let the rest of us know as the week unfolds what Ainge, etc. say. I, for one, am packing to come 'home' for HC game this weekend. The game may not be the best but back on campus is always a good time.

1) look at the confernce 2) he was coaching someone elses SUCCESSFUL teams!

When he was at Central Michigan or Cincinnati, yes, the conference is not as strong as the S.E.C. but the players he recruited were Conference USA recruits. They were not good enough to play in the S.E.C. or most of them would have been in the S.E.C.

So, he was playing Conference USA talent level players vs. the other teams Conference USA talent level players.

In the S.E.C. he will play S.E.C. talent level players vs. the other teams S.E.C. talent level players.

Conference doesn't matter. In football, it is still passing, tackling, blocking, kicking, etc. regardless of the conference.

Just to add to that. Brian Kelly at Cent. Mich., 4-7, 6-5, 9-4...then Butch takes over. Cincy Brian Kelly was 10-3, 11-3, 12-0...then Butch took over. So to take the other side of the argument, Butch has never taken a program in the crapper like we are currently and built it up into a winner. Doesn't mean he will not or cannot, but there is more to the story.

I think Butch will get us to the next level, the 8 to 9 win level. I have my doubts he can get us past that level though.

Didn't Urbs run a spread at Florida? Not flaming, just curious. I didn't really watch enough of their games to pick up on it.

He did lose to Dooley... but you have to give him time to get some players in here for his system. Walk-ons ain't gonna cut it in the SEC.

I would kill for a 9 win season right about now. Not really but u get my point. Its been a long time.
