Seymour-Jones connection: Vanderbilt running back Jerron Seymour and Jones bring a unique connection to the UT-Vanderbilt rivalry.

SeymourÂ’s older brother, Jerry, was a standout running back at Central Michigan while Jones served as the ChippewasÂ’ offensive coordinator.

“I have a ton of respect for the Seymours,” Jones said. “(Jerry) probably goes in the top three or four best players I’ve ever had the privilege of coaching. I know a lot about him and his makeup, his family background.”

Jerry Seymour had 2,917 total yards and 13 touchdowns in his freshman and sophomore seasons in JonesÂ’ offense. But a misdemeanor charge of attempted assault with a dangerous weapon in a bar fight that left a man dead led to his dismissal from the team after the 2004 season. He pleaded no contest and finished his career at Glenville State.

Johnny Majors says Tony Robinson is the greatest athlete he ever coached. How could Robinson's criminal behavior alter that truth?
