Wow! He just keeps making hundreds of thousands of dollars for failing at his job.

This will be Cuonzo in four years getting fired from a mid Major

Martin isn't the best...but he is nowhere near as awful as Buzz. Martin has had one losing season I think? His first season. How many has Buzz had. Martin is mediocre to decent and buzz is just awful.

Really don't understand it. At Appy State his teams were excellent, then at Tulsa he takes them to the S16. Then thuuuud.

Peterson didn't take Tulsa to the Sweet 16. He took over after that. They did win the NIT his only year there, but if you look at it that way, he couldn't get a Sweet 16 team back to the NCAAT.

His last season at Appy St. (well before he went back for one year after Coastal Carolina) is the only time he made the NCAAT, and he lost in the first round.

Buzz did not take Tulsa to the Sweet 16. Tubby Smith and Bill Self did. Buzz won the NIT in his only season at Tulsa, after he replaced Self, who was there for three seasons. Then, we hired Buzz, probably thinking he was as good as Self, lol.

Yes, and this after Dickey passed over Bill Self years earlier.

I bolded the 'not' in my comment, because that's the second time in the past few weeks that I've seen a poster on here think Buzz took Tulsa to the Sweet 16. Anyone who has mostly only been following the Vols since Bruce, which is fine, probably looks at Tulsa's NCAA history and how they've produced multiple good coaches and thinks Buzz was there for 3-5 years.

Amazing how many people get that wrong. Maybe Buzz can go back to App again, they just fired Capel (or chose not to renew). He should have stayed there, they loved him and he did pretty well.

I have to admit even I thought Buzz did until about his 3rd year at UT. I didn't realize he had only been at Tulsa 1 season before we hired him, and I'm pretty sure some reporters even thought he was the coach of the Sweet 16 team. The reason I remember it is by his year 3 the questions of him being able to make the NCAAT were brought up and at that time a lot of people I think thought he had a S16 and it was repeated. It wasn't until I looked it up myself that I realized he only had the one one-and-done NCAAT appearance at Appy St.

Shocking that he was fired from a mid-major when he was soo close to being great at UT. If he had just had one more year, he had great recruits coming in.:)
