I could swear the announcers just said that Dean Smith helped Buzz put in some sets and they have won 8-9 since.

Am watching as well. I will always be very fond of Buzz - he's a great guy and hope he does well at CCU and beyond - if that comes about.

His team is playing hard and with a lot of energy. Obviously, that's one only game against the conference leader (CCU is in the race, 2 games behind BSU...and CCU has swept Winthrop - the perrenial NCAA entry) that I'm seeing. However, the record and CCU's recent past suggest that Buzz is doing something right.

I've always felt Buzz could coach, but perhaps the timing at UT just wasn't right.

I disagree with you Perry, here's why:

He's an awful coach who had blamed players for losses in the past.
He bad mouthed UT after having left and receiving a fat buy out.
He inherited a team that was supposed to win the conference (got this off of their website earlier this year)
He can be directly attributed to several key losses including Kentucky of his last year here because of bone headed coaching moves.

In my opinion, his only success is having beaten Jordan out for HS player of the year in NC.

Are you sure?? How can a 10-19 team last yr that lost 7 players be supposed to win a conference title?..if anything you'd expect them to be alot worse. 10 of their 14 players are underclassmen...7 freshman

I know for a fact they were the preseason pick of the media to win the Big South

Could you post a link? I'd love to read the reasoning behind that with how young that team is.

If Coastal Carolina wins their conference tourney, they would be a pretty low seed. Tennessee vs. Buzz would be an interesting first-round match-up.

Im so glad he is gone, he really sucked at Ut. He had some really good players but could not coach a lick. Maybe he will do good where is though.

The committee always seems to go for the storylines when they set the first-round match-ups, like last year's UK game against Travis Ford's EKU squad. If CC gets in, and the seedings work out, UT-CC will probably happen.
