A familiar name has surfaced in expected changes on Kentucky's basketball staff.

ESPN and CBSSportsline.com mentioned former Tennessee coach Buzz Peterson as being under consideration if UK has an opening.

"I don't know how that got out there," Peterson said last night from Indianapolis, where coaches have gathered for the Final Four. "I have not spoken to Tubby (Smith, UK's coach). The worst thing is, there's no position open."

Peterson, a first-year head coach at Coastal Carolina last season, is a friend of Smith and has expressed an interest in joining UK's staff if a position opens.

You really think Tubby would let Buzz sell his soul for Smith? I never had a good feeling about what happened w/ that commitment.

All of my friends down home have been spreading rumors that Tubby is going to take the Atlanta Hawks and or the Charlotte BobCats job.

Then Kentucky will court John Calipari from Memphis.

That would be silly to entertain such motions. Tubby stands to make 4 million next year altogether. I don't think it will be this year. Besides, Tubby is too much of a competitor to leave his legacy at Kentucky on a sour note after last season.

He may jump to the nba next year, but not this year.

I agree with you that the desire to have Tubby ousted clouds the senses of the faithful in blue.

The drudgery of watching Kentucky Basketball is terrible at best.

Perhaps we can go back in time and talk Pitino out of leaving UK and never going into restaurant business with Bravo Pitino at Victorian Square. :biggrin2:

Man, I hope that happens. Think of how crazy Thompson-Boling Arena would be when the Wildcats came to town. I mean, Vol fans booed Lee Humphrey this year. Think of how it would be for Tyler Smith. It would also be a great chance for Bruce to show Tyler what he missed out on.
