Helmets left on the field, rock bottom statements, no bowl game, resigning and fired coaches, spit on cameramen.......How are we going to travel to the Bluegrass state and come away as winners? Is there a new home in the future for the beer barrel?

Even if we do lose we don't have to give up the beer barrel. We quit playing for that a few years ago when KY decided that it was politically inncorrect to have kids not of drinking age to play for such a trophy. I think KY had a player kill in a car accident, and it was alcohol related. It was hard for UT to disagree after the kid was killed in the accident.

I wish that they still played for the beer barrel, but those MADD women got involved, and we lost a big part of the rivarly with KY.

Maybe the weather will turn real cold and you'll bet snowed in. If not, the whole team could call in sick. Then you could forfeit the game with honor... :shades:

I hate that

What about the little brown jug?

What else do little brown jugs hold?

Water? No that would be the little brown water bottle.

Pepsi? No, that would be the little brown pepsi can.

Gotta be 'shine

It got taken away because shortly before the 1998 Tennessee-Kentucky game there was a dunk driving wreck that killed 3 Kentucky players and they pulled that from the tradition after that incident.

That makes sense. Out of all the advertising influencing people to drink, I bet that beer barrel was at the top of the list.

Might not be long before the NCAA PC police clamp down on that song. :shades:

You know, as horrible as Kentucky is (and they are terrible, they'd be 2-8 if Vandy hadn't slept through the first half of that game), they have a long losing streak against UT that I'm sure their Seniors, especially, would love to break. Not as long as Vandy's, but what, 12, 13 years? Keeping Rich Brooks around for another year demonstrates how uncommitted to football Kentucky is, but finishing 4-7 with a win over UT would certainly help build Brooks' capital in Lexington, so you know he's going to want this one. Is anyone here going to be at all surprised if we lose this game?

I give us a 50/50 chance against Kentucky. They have everything to gain from this one. No, I will not be surprised if the Cats come away with this one.

We tried to ressurrect the Beer Barrel rivalry with Kentucky in ice hockey (nothing like hockey and beer, right?!), we had it all planned and was going to get oneof those small barrells thatusuallyhave a spout, and paint it up. Well, the student affairs office at Kentucky went BERSERK! Threatened to pull of UKHockey's funding and suspend them.

Instead, our trophy game is now the I-75 Challenge Cup. Its a road cone attached to a trophy base, and painted so the flat part at the bottom of the cone looked iced over. (you CANT make stuff like that up) :eek:lol:

Actually, with it being a road cone, that would be a better trophy for an I-40 Challenge cup :lolabove:
