Caitlin Clark, if she breaks the scoring record, put an asterisk by her name

I wasn’t going to go there because there’s no evidence of that, and accusations about supposed racial motivations behind things are thrown around way too easily these days.

The girl whose record Clark broke is also white.
Swoopes probably didnt know that either

She's played 4 seasons.

What's impressive, besides her scoring/shooting skills, is that she's averaged 8 assists a game for four years. She's happy to share to the ball. The other thing that jumps out is how utterly consistent she's been over the last four years. Her numbers--average, shooting percentage, assists--are practically the same every year!

Maybe Sheryl is just an idiot?

Or maybe Sheryl is a little peeved that a White girl is the toast of the Basketball World? If She had just said ONE Point wrong, I'd give her the benefit, but She really loaded up on the Girl.
Yeah, I saw yesterday that when Pete Marovich played frosh. were not allowed to play..........just three years for him.

And NO 3 Point Goals!! Pistol will go down as the best ever in CBB to those that look objectively.

No evidence.... What exactly would you call it? Racism is at an all time high, whether or not we want to admit it . What Sheryl did is a low class hit job intended to detract from Clark's accomplishment. Why people have such a tough time dealing with the truth these days is a mystery.

Why?
She did it in five seasons. Most of those before her only were able to play four.
Granted she's a talent, but she didn't do what those before her did.
This is her fourth season. Amazing anyone could be stupid enough to make this comment after all the Sheryl Swoopes drama. SMDH

Has a Racist flavor to me. And that would be very sad. But there is really no other logical explanation.

I have no idea what was underlying Swoopes' message, but it seems pretty common for retired athletes to belittle the accomplishments of younger generations, especially when the current athletes are receiving lots of media attention. When that happens, it seems like they're saying hey I was better than you and I didn't receive any fanfare. Athlete egos and all.

The only thing Swoopes has on Clark is Size. Talent? Not close, IMO. I deal in real, and tell it like I see it. I offend. I don't care.

Not saying she's the best college player of all time but she's sure as hell the funniest to watch! She's must watch TV! Glad she's been loyal to Iowa and her home state.
She’ll have more viewers this year than the rest of her career.

Is it really that common though? It seems Iike it's almost always congratulations and words of encouragement from the previous record holder and previous record holder's generation.

Pete Maravich still holds the college scoring record (for another game or 2) and he did it in 3 years. Freshman couldn’t play varsity back then.

A record is a record. IMO you can’t start saying stuff like, “They play more games now in a season” or ”They play more years now” etc..
