This guy looked questionable last year and the staff got a promising player with Peebles thru the portal... All Cal has done is put his head down and grind and produce behind the plate and seems to be a leader of this team... Gotta appreciate players like him that didn't give up and transfer but just kept grinding... His energy and positivity catching behind the plate is as good as it gets

Good read on Stark... it had to be difficult for him with Peebles coming in.

Stark had a choice to make. He could enter the transfer portal to try and find a spot with guaranteed playing time. Or he could fight for his spot.

“I made my decision to stay here because, at the end of the day, it’s just competition," Stark said. "You can either run from it or go somewhere else. You can have very different opinions thrown your way about you for running from the competition, and I didn’t want that. I wanted to stay here, I wanted to compete. Competition is just going to make you better at the end of the day.”

“Not trying to do too much. Really just trying to pass my bat to the next guy who just happens to be the triple crown winner in the SEC [Christian Moore]," he said.

I was fortunate enough to be seated with Cal Stark at the last 2 First Pitch Banquets. He’s a great young man from a quality family. He will be successful at whatever he does. Many think he will get drafted and I hope he does. He would make a great Coach after his playing days are done as well.
