if you have been reading on Cal's forums since they lost you would think they got cheated. At first it was gratz to Tennessee, then it was not how good Tennessee played, it was how bad they played. Now they are fussing about anything and everything. I am starting to wander if this is going to be a complete meltdown of the Cal team. You have a coach that is talking in 10 different directions and a team that is talking in 10 more directions. Bring in the Media and you have 2 sides, one that cal was overrated, and the other is starting to hint at Cal was set up to fall.

Here is the post about how Cal is getting cheated in the rankings.

Thanks for the link. They thought they were ready to run with the big boys and got embarrased not only on Saturday night, but every day and night since on every sports page and national talk show. For them, it is like the nightmare that will never end.

I guess USC will continue to be their front runner for the PAC 10, and the rest are just a bunch of wannabe teams riding their coat tails.

I think that the fall of Cal makes some sense..maybe not all the way to 22/23...but 19/20 would have made a lot of sense. Their argument is that most teams (Ohio State, Miami, etc.) wouldn't have fallen that far for a similar loss. Way to put yourselves in the same league with perinneal good teams Cal...I like it. I doubt USC would have fallen as far as Cal did for a similar loss. Personally, I think that Tennessee did rise to far though. 15-17 would have been better...then put them in the top 10 if they can beat Florida.

Welcome to the board Champy...I disagree. The Cal game was a game where the Vols had to put to death last seasons meltdown. Do many Vols fans feel the same...some yes, most no. Most considered this game a non conference game against a #9 team, who if we won would be great but if we didnt it was relatively painless. The jump from 23 to 11 says different, we buried last year...the Vols are back...wide receiver university is back...and even ESPN says we have a pulse..mission accomplished. Now take 1 game at a time, 1 1st down at a time....and just move the chains baby.

it wasn't just a loss, it was honestly a beatdown. The people who voted know that Fulmer called it off in the middle of the 3rd and they got some pity points. The drop in polls shows how they played for 2 1/2 quarters

The polls should not come out until three weeks into the season.

They way I look at the poles is this... Preseason poles are just a guess of how good a team is going to be. A lot of it is based on there last season. They "predicited" Cal to be goood. The first weeks rankings are based on those games. Yea cal feel but look how they played. I dont even think they look'd like the 25th best team in the nation. They just need to quit bickering. They lost one game. They have plenty more to go. And if the beat USC (big IF) they will forget all about our game.

i agree. dan i was at the game and i wandered to myself if we were that good or cal that bad. your right in it really helped us in the standings and the fans are more pumped than i've seen them in along time. alot of people though at the beginning of the year were saying cal was overated and i know for a fact there tackling is terrible. we dominated them up and down both sides of the field. it was nice to see us put a whoopin on them. if we are going to get the respect we deserve though it will be against florida next week. we come out and look good against the gators the sky is the limit, and cut will achieve god status in east tennessee.:dance2:
