Cal - UT rankings question?

If Cal beats Portland St. and UT loses to UF will Cal pass UT in the polls? How about if Cal beats Portland St. this week and a Top 25 AZ St. next week while the Vols lose to UF this week and beat Marshall next week? This may be our first big poll controversy of the season. Of course, it'd be a lot better if UT can just beat the Gators.

i don't think the polls are all that important to our season right now...win or lose....if we win, that's all i need at this point...and if we keep winning, the polls will take care of themselves.

So there should be no griping if Cal and UT are both 2-1 a week from today and Cal is ranked ahead of UT?

Yep. Just win, the rankings will take care of themselves. Unless you're Auburn.

at this point, i really don't care...we beat them, that's good enough for me...

it would be different if we realistically had a shot a NT this year and rankings made a difference...but in the long run, it really might bode well for us from a strength of schedule stand point if Cal does climb back up the polls.

I guess this is now a more timely question. Who thinks Cal leaps UT in the rankings this week? UT's ranking this week will give us a clear picture of whether the Vols have any respect on a national level. IMHO the Vols should not drop more than 1 or 2 spots after losing by 1 point (and covering the spread) to a Top 6-7 team.
