California = France?

I had seen a news story that indicated the oil reserves off shore that could yield sufficient royalty revenue to pay their entire budget deficit but the usual suspects won't allow it. (environmentalists and those who want to force green energy development).

Fifteen years??

CEG deal with French utility OK'd by FERC February 20, 2009 Constellation Energy Group has cleared one regulatory hurdle for sale of half of its nuclear power business to France's largest utility.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved yesterday the $4.5 billion transaction, saying the deal "will not adversely affect competition, rates or regulations."

The Baltimore company agreed in December to sell half of its nuclear business to Electricite de France. In doing so, Constellation scrapped an earlier agreement with MidAmerican Energy Holdings Co., a deal reached in September amid a liquidity crisis facing the company. Federal law prohibits full ownership or control of a U.S. nuclear plant by a foreign entity, and the deal is subject to approval by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the (Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States.)

The Maryland Public Service Commission is investigating whether the deal would require its approval and has scheduled a hearing next month.

I wondered who was on the 'committee on foreign investment in the united states' and so I tried to look it up and got this far, so far.

Don't you love government incompetence??

There's no whine like French whine,

but California whine comes close.

An oldie but goody;

December 2005.

MARSEILLES, France -- Skirt-chasing playboy Daniel Anceneaux spent weeks talking with a sensual woman on the Internet before arranging a romantic rendezvous at a remote beach -- and discovering that his on-line sweetie of six months was his own mother!

"I walked out on that dark beach thinking I was going to hook up with the girl of my dreams," the rattled bachelor later admitted. "And there she was, wearing white shorts and a pink tank top, just like she'd said she would.

"But when I got close, she turned around -- and we both got the shock of our lives. I mean, I didn't know what to say. All I could think was, 'Oh my God! it's Mama!' "

But the worst was yet to come. Just as the mortified mother and son realized the error of their ways, a patrolman passed by and cited them for visiting a restricted beach after dark.

"Danny and I were so flustered, we blurted out the whole story to the cop," recalled matronly mom Nicole, 52. "The policeman wrote a report, a local TV station got hold of it -- and the next thing we knew, our picture and our story was all over the 6 o'clock news. "People started pointing and laughing at us on the street -- and they haven't stopped laughing since."

"Mom called herself Sweet Juliette and I called myself The Prince of Pleasure, and unfortunately, neither one of us had any idea who the other was,"....

Uhh... hey genius. Did you ever think the reason why they are in the peril they are in now is because of social programs such as that? :unsure:
