I think having another well known coach who can recruit and build a winner will help the conference as a whole recruit better players. Most of these kids love competition and playing for/against the best.

Nah - it will just help UK. SEC is never going to be able to use a conference recruiting pitch unless we're recruiting against the Pac-10 or CUSA or something.

Well, had Florida not completely imploded, there might have been a possibility between UK, UT and UF. But as already stated, its a football conference. I think it will help a little though.

I guess it can go both ways. Cal didn't have a problem (in the second half of his tenure) getting studs to play in a crappy conference.

Though I agree, overall it helps the SEC look better as a basketball conference.

I wonder why that all of a sudden changed?

I think it helps the SEC. UT is up, if UF can somehow turn it around they are not to far removed from back to back NC's, Miss St just had a good class come in and won the SEC Title. There will be 3 teams for sure (UT, UK, MSU) that will be good, possibly all top 25. UF depends on if Billy D's last ditch to keep Nick Calathes by having Rick Pitino call him. I think I read though that Nick is going to go play in Europe. I could be wrong. Vandy is always a wildcard. One year they are good and a top 25 team, the next the are .500 at best.

The SEC as a whole will still be down this season, but I think it can get back to where it was a couple of years ago with alot of teams making the Big Dance and the NIT every year.
