But it was Pearl who got the last laugh. When told of Calipari’s body paint comment, Pearl was asked if there was anything Calipari does that he wouldn’t do.

Pearl paused for effect, smirking at the media before answering and drawing raucous laughter: “I don’t know all the things that he’s doing.’’

Touche. I don't even want to know what Calipari is doing. However, we do know what he is NOT doing, which is coaching the US jewish team in the middle east while losing recruiting battles, although beating the mexican jewish team by 99 points.

At this point, had Cal came back out in a yarmulke (yamaka) and said something, it would have been priceless. but a bit over the line. lol

I think its a healthy rivalry between the two coaches, that helps the already budding rivalry between schools. However, that recruiting battle thing is over. It will be in Cal's favor from this point forward.

Are you confused, or is this some sort of racial stab? I am not sure. He coached the US Jewish team while losing recruiting battles.

LOL. No, I got my words mixed up. I meant to make a comment about him beating the mexican jewish team, 112-13, or whatever it was. My bad, no racial stuff going on here. :hi:

Edit: I edited the post to reflect the correct meaning.

Quit life... you suck at it. How pathetic can you be with a comment like that? Believe it or not, some people have priorities that exist outside of college basketball. If Pearl felt like that is something that he needed to do with his life, then good for him. Bruce was standing up for what he believes in. What did you do with your summer? Follow Calipari on twitter? Check a UT message board every five minutes? You should probably go find a Kentucky message board and make your peers feel comfortable by convincing them that Calipari will be there for more than a couple of years before burning your program to the ground and pissing on the ashes.

Whoa killer. Anyways, coaching those games this summer was pretty bad. UT basketball should definately be ahead of those games in terms of priorities. If you're paying somebody that kind of cash, he shouldn't leave the country for that long, its not hard to figure out that it could lead to losing recruits.

On a side note, this kentucky guy ain't bad. He's only got one thing I hate in his avatar, and 2 things I love. Better than most trolls :hi:

Well maybe I overreacted a bit... I just hate to see Bruce be put down for doing something like that, especially by making antisemitic references (Personally, I wouldn't find it funny or "priceless" if Coach Cal put on a Yamaka). The way I see it, there will always be another recruiting class and another season. Not always will there be an opportunity to win a championship for the USA while honoring your roots to boot. My apologies to the Kentucky guy... you just stepped on a nerve. I don't hate you. I don't know why you would want to be on here, but you're welcome here by me.

Hat has harped on the whole Maccabi Games deal that Pearl was shirking his duty with UT and not recruiting and a bunch have bought what he was selling, as usual. Yet, a few months later, we have a 4 star player in Golden committed, a potential top 20 player possibly committing in a week or so and sitting very strongly with Pinkston and Harris. It's time to end this BS about Pearl losing anything because of the "Macaroni Games" because the position we are in with recruits does not reflect the criticism.

I wonder what the UK fans will say when they are vacating their final 4 appearance and Cali is denying he knew anything about the cheating? Oh that's right, UK is used to their coaches cheating.

If Cal ever announces he is leaving for another job, like the NBA, the KY fans will already know the NCAA is at their door.

Actually, this was just one was referring to the general tone of the Maccabi Games comments here. It was just started by hat. Besides, I make a lot of posts unrelated to hat. But, he is the dominant figure here and you can't avoid his nonsense.

I've not seen him respond in this thread. You just happen to throw his name into 99% of your posts. If he bothers you that bad, just go to your UserCP and ignore him. It's not that hard to ignore someone... If that's truly what you want.

I can guarantee you that I don't reference him in 99% of my posts. I did get into it with him for a couple of weeks, but, if you think my life revolves around him, then you need to check my posting history.

Besides, I don't need to put anyone on ignore. I certainly don't have anything to be afraid of and avoid.

So, anyway.....the point still remains about the Maccabi Games.

probably something to the effect of, "oh my Lord, the rapture has come".

Collectively followed by the sound of hundreds of thousands of shotguns hammers slowly being pulled back, while aimed at their respective owners.

If you follow my posts on a regular basis, you will realize that its all in good fun. Which is one of the things I consider a message board to be. The last thing I would ever do is intentionally insult someone for their beliefs. Its only hypothetical, and in jest. It would definately be absurd for Calipari to wear a "yamaka". :good!:

Its sort of the equivalent of having to spend 29 years with your family. Coincidentally your family is stark raving bat S#$t crazy over one thing. They continue to talk about this one thing day and night. You can only talk positive about this one thing. Say something negative, and your banned.

See, you love your family, but you want to kill them at the same time because they are so blinded by this one thing that they cannot carry on rational conversation about this one thing.

Kentucky fanbase = family

one thing = Kentucky basketball

I bleed blue. No doubt about it. I do belong to a UK board, mainly for up to date information and SOME conversation. However, I like discussing other programs, and the overall effect of all the teams. And do it on an almost unbiased platform. There are some UT homers here that still don't understand that, but I find enough people here that can offer me this asylum from the world of UK basketball. :eek:k:

So you don't agree that it was absolutely foolish for a coach to go off to some ridiculous tournament instead of recruiting for his real job?

That was time that was wasted.

I agree because whether or not Bruce's being at those games and not recruiting was the real reason for Selby decommitting, it certainly looked bad on him and was grounds for criticism.

I don't think it was a big deal and the only reason it was noted was because of the timing of the Selby decommit. However, looking at our recruiting lately, it obviously didn't have an effect and Pearl had the situation in hand. It was a lot to do about nothing.

And Selby would've decommitted if Pearl set up a tent in his back yard. Once Selby stepped foot in the LeBron camp and mommy talked to WWW, he was gone.
