I have OP on ignore so don't even know what he said. But, they get 2 billion TV timeouts a game, so they had plenty of timeouts used. As far as calling a TO to stop Dukes runs, there was no stopping them. Duke scored off of every time out in the game, would have been no exception. Good for the guys anyways, helps them play through adversity.
We were playing well either way, we just couldn't buy a basket. A TO wasn't going to help that any.
The one time I was asking for a TO was when Maymon couldn't find anybody with the 5sec call on. He eventually threw the ball away when trying to make an across court pass near mid court. That was one I would have liked CM or JM use a TO.

I agree with the OP. We didnt take a timeout till 2 min left in the game. Meanwhile, Duke was running up and down the court, extending the lead. Call a T.O. Give the boys a break, draw up a play, and reset the D.
I didnt understand not using them.
This is just playing Monday Morning Quarterback. Calling timeouts to stop runs is a philosophy thing with a coach. Phil Jackson doesn't do it; do you hear a lot of people criticizing him? No.
Timeouts left on the table in basketball mean nothing. We hung with duke. You don't call a TO just to call one. If CM calls one, and duke comes out on a 10-0 run, what purpose does it serve. You get tv timeouts and the ones Duke called. That was plenty.
really? I wanted them to call them all consecutively at a random point in the game.
How do you know this would happen? How do you know Tennessee wouldn't come out on a 10-0 run?
So you don't think Maymon should have called a t/o when he was pressured near the half court line in the later part of the game instead of making a poor pass which resulted in a turnover and points by Duke?
