We salivated over this guy.

He is a legit stud and had an impressive showing for the Barners

I really wanted this guy. He played very well yesterday and will be good for Auburn.

180 yards rushing is pretty damn impressive and he can lower his shoulder and run alot of guys over like tebow

On the football field he is a stud.

Gives defenses nightmares - can throw and run.

I don't think he is the right fit for UT, but he is perfect for Auburn. And if he had stayed at UF he would be dominating.

Newton played like ass in the '08 spring game. He couldn't hit the side of a barn.

He looked much improved on Saturday, but I doubt had he stayed at UF he would have beaten out Brantley as the starter.

Never was a question of ability. Its a question of what's between his ears. Its a case of high risk high reward. For MSU it was worth the risk.

I actually disagree. Cam is more suited for Meyer's spread offense.

I see we have some revisionist historians now that Newton looks legit.

The fact is Newton played poorly in the '08 spring game, followed by an unimpressive fall practice where some coaches hinted that Newton hadn't mastered the playbook as quickly as they would have liked....after Newton got some PT as a true frosh in '07.

I was probably the biggest advocate for Cameron Newton on this board and I will say now what I said then: the dude is dripping with NFL potential and will get himself drafted.

171 yards rushing from the QB position and 5 total TDs is impressive no matter who it's against. He had a good showing.

He would have committed early if we wanted him and changes the dynamic of this team this year in a huge way. You can get by with a weak line if you have a versatile QB with a big arm and quicks and a wide receiving core such as the one we have.

We easily win two more games this year with Newton vs. Simms.

And Newton was AHEAD of Brantley on the depth chart the year prior to his arrest. No matter what they tell you he would have started over Brantley. They would be in much better shape with him too.

Of course Newton was ahead of Brantley on the depth chart. Brantley redshirted in '07 while Newton played as a true frosh.

Brantley beat out Newton for the #2 spot in '08 for the reasons I mentioned earlier.

I love the double standard here too. I can only imagine the shots UT fans would be taking at Meyer if somehow Newton stayed on our roster and wound up starting after his issues off the field.

Glad you are catching on.

I agree with most of what you have to say, but I don't think he fits Dooley's system.

I do think he would be a dynamic difference maker, but hard to say whether or not he would bring a two win difference.

Either way on the field he is a stud and has a ton of NFL potential. But in my opinion, he is not a fit for UT.

You're still not going to be any good.

Not significantly, but you at least give yourself a better opportunity to compete. Based on the showing of the O-line in the last game, Simms is going to be running for his life the first half of the schedule.

How does he not fit Dooley's system? He's got everything you need to be a drop-back passer. Cameron Newton isn't crippled by a poor arm or poor accuracy like some dual threat quarterbacks. He's got everything you need. Newton would fit any system.

You confuse me slightly by saying he fits the NFL mold, but doesn't fit a pro-style system. That's a complete contradiction.

Our system may not compliment his complete arsenal like a spread option one, but he is perfectly capable of working within it.
