Ok, maybe not Cam personally or individually, but what he represents. Let me explain.
Last year Cam Sutton as a true freshman was one of our best players on the whole team. There is an argument to be made that he was the our MVP in 2013. All this from an 18 or 19 year old 3 star recruit being thrown to the wolves in the toughest football conference in America. Cam made an unreal impact on what had been such a woeful UT secondary over the last few years. Cam is a special player.
Will another Cam Sutton emerge from this most recent recruiting class? Perhaps two or even three?
Now think about that bolded sentence and what it could mean for our football team in 2014. Impact freshmen. We don't have to look too far back to see what a powerful recruiting class with impact freshmen can do for an SEC football team. Hugh Freeze in his first year at Ole Miss showed us that.
Team 118 faces an uphill battle this year with a brutal schedule. Nobody can argue that. I try to be objective and my objectivity says that this team will likely have to overachieve just to become bowl eligible...
But Cam Sutton....he gives me hope that we could be something more. Seeing what Josh Malone did at the O&W game....it makes me believe we could be something more. Watching the way our quarterbacks so very clearly improved....it makes me believe we could be something special.
Maybe.....just maybe....the rise and return of the Tennessee Volunteers that we all know, love, remember and cherish.........will be this fall.
Go vols!
