It looks like more bad news for the Truck Series. Not only are some of the top drivers in the series sponsorless, but now it looks like the whole series will be soon.

From Jayski:
Camping World to leave Truck Series? NASCAR is putting out feelers for a sponsor to replace Camping World for the Truck Series. Camping World entered the sport as the sponsor for Richard Childress Racing and Kevin Harvick Inc. on Ron Hornaday's truck in 2007. Later that season CW expanded to include what was formerly the NASCAR Busch East and North developmental series. Camping World was named title sponsor of the Truck Series last fall following an extensive search after Craftsman Tools bowed out.(FoxSports)(4-4-2009)

I hate to see the series with the best racing and closest points battles struggle like this. If things don't change, I'm afraid the whole series may go under.

While I agree with you as far as the quality of racing, unfortunately, the series isn't getting the crowds. This is in no small part due to the scheduling as the third of three races on either Thurs. or Fri. nights. It seemed they drew bigger crowds on their own at tracks where no other NASCAR top series raced.

i think they should run as a seperate circuit, as opposed to traveling with the other 2, and run at a time on the weekend when the top series arent racing. Like Broyles said, alot of people that go for the weekend arent around thurs or fri afternoon yet.

Not to mention wanting to spend the money for a third set of tickets.

it doesnt seem to be a development series as it was intended to be on formation, its mostly guys who never got it going at a higher level, some locals, and a few kids. the exposure and very limited tv audience make it understandable that sponsorship is hard to come by, especiallly now. With the amount of travel, lack of good sponsors, and nickles on the dollar prize money, im surprised the seriies is still going, despite the great racing.

Camping World was biting more than they could chew. They were already sponsoring numerous teams from each of the three series and some of the regional series.

I would think that Camping World is one of the companys getting hit hard by the recession. If most people have just enough money to live week to week, they aren't going to be spending any for recreational purposes. Sprint already is a major corporation that probably hasn't suffered alot and everyone needs insurance, so Nationwide is probably ok.
