To the defense. I know they are terrible but they have no drive or emotion on the field. Against NC State, Ga State, and 3/4 of the Florida game the defense did not look like a squad that would cost us as bad as they have, they even created turnovers and looked alright. Does anyone have some insight?

Hahaha Very informative, but not exactly what I was looking for. Are players not buying in to the scheme or is it just to complex for them.

The problem is no pressure up front and no communication in the secondary. Pattern matching requires the secondary to allow the receivers to establish their routes before they match up man-to-man, which requires the secondary to communicate effectively which we are not doing.

Film and adjustments. The more film teams get on us, it is easier to figure out how to beat us on D. That is one of the reasons we looked so good against NC St. They had no film on our 3-4 D. The further we get into the season, the more film is out there. Add in the transition and us adjusting to a new D without many true 3-4 players and you get what you see.

I think it's a combination of.A lack of respect and a lack of effort. When your players respect you they will run through a brick wall for you.And they will buy in to your system and give 100% effort. And Watching the games on Tv i can tell that a lot of his players don't respond to him well.

Bottom line.Watching film will not help this bunch. They have Tanked on the season and will not listen to Sal.I would bet the house that the majority of the defense don't like him.

It all comes back to the coaching, and the players buying into the DC's scheme, communicating with one another on the field... and playing with heart, and that, I believe, is the missing link.

Brian Randolph? Maybe he was that important?

To really understand what is going on with the defense you need to go back 4 years ago when Chavis was fired, and replaced with an old crusty farted rascal who left us right before recruiting, who in turn was replaced by a an OK DC who got one whiff of Dooley and ran for the hills, who was replaced with an Alabama linebacker coach.
