I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this, but I just thought I would get some opinions. This dude I know is one of the top QBs in Canada and is trying to get some div-1 offers. Here is a quote directly from him:

I am a canadian highschool football player who is trying to get recruited to the states. For Div 1 football. I am one of the top recruits in all of Canada and have been talked to by many Universitys in canada.

I am a Quarterback 6'3, 215 Lbs, Run an official 4.84 forty (patriots camp) Bench Press 285 lbs, Squat 385 lbs
over 6000 total yards in 2 seasons of high school. 58 touchdowns, I am a pro style QB throws more than runs. What tips do you have to get a hold of NCAA coaches and how I can go about it.Division 1 Nova Scotia MVP in gr 11, first team all NS, Football NS Offense MVP, Team MVP, Div 1 Rookie of the year in gr 10, AUS Camp MVP/Top qb. Patriots Camp top 30, tied for top QB.

I have been contacted by NCAA schools, D2 and 1-aa but im looking for D-1 because i am truely set in Canada if i cant get d-1. Is there anything to get a coach to look past the canadian background? I am signed up with NCSA a recruiting company and have been looked at by d1 schools.

Any tips at all would be so helpful, thanks again

Heres my highlight tape, check it out , let me know what you think !
YouTube - Ben Rossong 2008 Highlight Tape

I'm not the best judge of talent in the world, but it looks like he could at least play in one of the non-BCS conferences (WAC, MAC, MWC, Sunbelt, CUSA). If not starting, at least competing.

Let me know what you guys think. If this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it (maybe it goes in high school Football? IDK. He is trying to get recruited, so I thought maybe here)..

Kid is running for his life in the pocket on almost every play - lol even if there's no pressure. Not sure about his arm strength though.

Only in Canada would there be a school with the mascot of a King Fisher. Lulz.

2 things:

1) The second throw on the highlight tape is VERY impressive, IMO

2) If people didn't know this kid's background then everyone on here would be saying that he/she hopes we land him... i.e. if you would have said this kid was a 5 star, 98% of posters on here (myself included) would have believed you and prayed that we landed the kid

Not me. I didn't see anything that said 5*
Plus, it all boils down to coaches actually going to see a kid in person, usually. It's easy to spot a strong arm and accuracy of course, but there are variables most of us don't or can't see from low res/low quality highlight clips

I'd be willing to bet that top level competition in Canada is about equal to 1A here or something.

I have to agree! on the small dudes out there, but he has an arm mechanics not bad,but not great he is high school the right coaching he will get better, the only thing is the long tebow delivery, but with all that said and done we could get him. He would have a chip on his shoulder because he is from Canada you how we are, this could be a steal

All right Guys, the kid is good, he need to be polished look at vid again the negatives, because he is running for his life he holds the ball to long, second he needs to get the ball out faster when the reciever is getting separation , but thats all the line he has, he has an arm needs to get a good qb coach and this could be a solid QB anywhere

I agree with you, but that hasn't stopped people from thinking Chris Donald was going to be great.... The difference? one was a 5 star and the other player isn't ranked.. There is obviously a reason for this, but I would be willing to bet that very few on this board would be able to assess the difference in skills if they didn't have the rankings in front of them....I, for one, am one of those people...

Watch the video again ,everytime he scrambles and passes recievers are waiting on the ball to get to them ,when he sets up there crisp tight throws,to me he doesn't look any different than any decent passing HS QB in this state.

Apparently they're playing arena football rules up there... what's with the receivers taking off before the snap?
That "arena football rule" originally came from Canadian football. They've always allowed a man in motion to move toward the line of scrimmage prior to the snap.

Hard to tell how good he really is...those were some of the most wide open recievers and lack of pass defense I've seen in a highlight video.
