Can UT be a No. 1 Seed going into the NCAA Tournament?

What seed do you think UT will be in the NCAA Tournament?

If UT runs the table the rest of the season, can UT be a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament?

I still can't make myself believe we are actually even having a discussion like this.

I think a 1 or 2 seed is a stretch, but with every win a 3 seed looks more and more realistic.

I think that ya'll need at least 1-2 wins in the SEC Tourney to get a #1. The Big East is nasty this year, and the ACC gets preferential treatment.

What a story that would be for UT MEN'S Basketball! I am still impressed with BP.

is the poll for if we run the table or what we feel will happen? i dont think we get a 1 either way. no way we jump duke, uconn, memphis or nova. zaga and texas would be tough to jump as well.

I don't see it happening either.

I think we'd have to run the table, WIN the SEC tournament and get some help from some teams losing to get a #1 . . . but I am done making any sort of predictions.

South Carolina went 15-1 in conference in 1997, lost to Georgia in their first game in the SEC Tourney and got a #2 seed.

Come on man . . . Coppin State was extremely underrated that year.

I'll say a 3 or 4... don't see'em running the table or winning the SEC tourney necessarily.

That wasn't the kind of "history" that we were wanting to make. Here's an embarassing fact.

The last NCAA Tournament win for South Carolina---1973. The Frank Freakin' McGuire Era!

Oh, and Richmond was a stalwart in '98, too.

Sounds like the 'Cocks have more postseason problems than the Vols do.

I just can't see 'em running the table the reg. season and tourney, which i believe that's what it would take for them to get a #1. I think #2 is very possible, but #3 is likely, if all things stay the same....

If we run the table (very unlikely) we could be a #1.

Win the SEC reg. season and make it to the semi's in SEC tourney or final and we could get a 2.

I voted #3 seed. A 4 is probably the worst we could get and that will require a collapse of some sort!

What a ride. :dance2:

1 seed worse case seinerio 2 seed. right now most sporting analyist have us as the 1st 2 seed or last 1 seed. with our rpi, sos, and the way we are playing, its going to be hard not to put us as a 2 seed.

besides if you dont feel we will run the table, who is going to beat us? no one has done it for almost a month, ever since Patterson has started everything has turned around greatly, and with the way lofton is stroking it, I dont think we lose again untill the final four ( guess i am the only one with the goo-nads to make a prediction)

I'll take whatever seed we can get. The sky is the limit right now though.

beating UF at thier place will be tough, but even then, losing to them, a top 10 team, on the road, in conf. play, that you've already beaten once....there's no sin in that....plus we got a game on 'em.

I agree with you %100. That is a tall order but as the comedienne Judy Tenuta used to say "It could happen"...

Based on comparative scores, Arkansas looks like the only possible sure-win left on the schedule. Even that game could be tough.

Alabama beat LSU in Tuscaloosa, so they have the ability to knock the Vols off. I look for that to be a lowish scoring, hard fought game.

Florida in Gainesville will be tough. Definitely not a guaranteed win.

Kentucky is still Kentucky.

Vanderbilt gave the Vols all they wanted in Knoxville. They may not have anything to play for then other than beating a rival who is having a big year.

I could see us losing two or three games from here on out, but can we win them? Yes. They'll give it their best shot, but you've gotta think they'll stumble at least once... been saying that for quite awhile now in SEC play...

I can't see our guys continuing to run the table like this... You have to figure Lofton is going to have a couple of off nights at times for the rest of the season, the question is just when. Right now, I'd say the Vols are a solid 3 seed if they lose maybe one more reg. season and finish 1st or 2nd in the SEC tourney. People still realize the SEC isn't that great this year, and that the Big East and Big Ten are redonkulous, and the ACC is very good as well.

I just dont see why everyone still feels the vols will have an off night and lose. Ever since patterson has been in the starting line-up, the vols have not lost. ever since he has been starting, the vols rebounding game has shot up significantly. We just keep improving and improving everygame and this team is going to be hard to beat. Im sayin run the table.

Well I haven't seen a Vols game in a while this season, and I really want to see how the inside game is developing. If it becomes a real-deal, legit inside game then yeah I would say a nice big tourney run is in order. But if not... Well, having a hot shooting game is nice because when you're shooting well you can't be beat. But that one game where your team can't shoot, you're gonna have to rely on the inside game. And if it's not there... Well, problems could arise.
