Interesting article. Fulmer certainly has a game plan. However, under that story was a headline that caught me eye. Ground Hogs vs. Air Vols
The first paragraph read:
Arkansas is perceived as a one-dimensional football team, so it might surprise you to learn that statistically, at least the Razorbacks are far more balanced than the Tennessee team they host tonight.
I find that very interesting since the talk here the whole week has been "Hogs can't pass. Stop the run, and you stop the Hogs." I've tried telling a couple of folks here Arkansas is more balanced than they've ever been. I'd be curious to read that article, too.
They are much more balanced than this UT team for sure. What I am hoping for as a UT fan is that we put them in a position where they have to throw the ball (turnovers and quick strikes). It is not likely to happen, but perhaps it would expose the Arkansas offense. The question I would like to see the Hogs answer is this: can they win if they have to pass?
How bad are the Vols gonna lose tonight, 423? I'm thinking 70 to -3. What say you?"Tennessee hasnt managed to rush for 100 net yards in its last three games, mostly because the run blocking has been sub-standard. Thats why Fulmer spent more time than usual overseeing the blocking drills this week."
After about four to five years of sub-standard offensive line play our brilliant head coach finally decides that it may be a good idea to spend more time than usual overseeing the blocking drills. This is textbook Fulmer. Sit back and do nothing and hope that the problem resolves itself. Fulmer is a moron.
In a matter of speaking, yes. They live by the run, no doubt. But unlike years past, they can now pass the ball well enough to keep teams from stacking the box. The played very balanced against AU and SC.
They are not a deep ball threat, but if Tennessee continually stacks the box and leaves Dick a lot of single coverage looks, he can indeed throw well enough to win.
