Forward progress had clearly stopped. Now I agree that a whistle hadn't blown the play dead which was odd. But in the end, the call was right.

Look at it this way- If he had suddenly broke through the tackles and scored would it have been called back? Doubtful, IMO

He was right about the fumble.

According to the rules, if the whistle isn't blown the play is alive.

According to the refs, their call stands no matter what. Doesn't mean it was the right call because they have that authority.
