Can we out recriut the schools that run the triple option? Can we get enough Oregon type players to last a full SEC schedule? Many on here have a better grasp than me, but I'm worried that Cincy's O will not win the East.

Why don't you save that one for Vol Calls. I'll hang up and listen.

lol. So you want to run Oregon's offense, right? How many national titles have they won?
A good defense like Alabama will shut that down quickly. Be patient.

We didn't think Meyer's O would work in the SEC.

I think anything can and will work if the coach is smart with developing talent and making adustments etc and brings in the right kids.

I'm not sure that would happen this year. If they even end up playing. I think bama will lose 1

It will be refreshing to see the ball handed off to Hurd & Paulk instead of Neal and Lane, if that's what your asking.

As much as I hate Bama and Saban, he's an amazing coach. He'd have plenty of time to study Oregon and would win that game IMO. If they played tomorrow, I think Oregon wins but a prepared Alabama team would stop that.

Also, I'm curious what's so different about Oregon compared to previous years? They have always been fast, had amazing running backs and mobile quarterbacks. Their defense seems better than previous years but it's still the same ol typical Oregon to me.

Their play calling, selection and getting it to the QB so quickly has improved. It's evident by how much time was left on the clock during the time the 1st team offense was on the field against our 1st team defense.

Oregon will wear your defense out eventually and especially if your offense continues with consecutive 3 and outs.

There QB is better than years past and you said it there defense is also much better.
That's why. Plus bama d is sloppy this year. If A&m can put up 40 what do you think Oregon could do.

do you mean the bama defense that just gave up 630 yards to a spread team(almost as many as we gave up to Oregon)? oregon and A&M can score on this years bama Defense. A&Ms defense is just terrible.

The primary difference in the Oregon team this year compared to previous is size. They have always been fast, now they are big and fast and smart. Read where they recruit big, fast and smart players who can adapt and learn the system they use. I saw where all their starters run at least a 4.6 forty.

The old saying, a good fast big man will beat a good small fast man is true

Their last 4 recruiting classes have every recruit qualifying

Be patient. Butch will get us on the right track, but it cannot be done overnight.. The losses through attrition, and early departures to NFL have devastated our depth. Better days are coming.

I can't judge Bama off of that one game. I think they'll be solid defensively but your really making me feel dirty because I hate Bama. I still think Saban is one hell of a coach and if you give him that much time to prepare, I think he gets it done. :hi:

Butch can recruit he's already proved he can get good players. You can't compare the recruiting he did at Cincinnati. He's got alot better programbto recruit for

So in your opinion...what team besides Bama could play with Oregon and have a decent chance of winning? Just curious.

It's not about out recruiting Oregon. They go about 6 hours max from Autzen and they can get all their players. It's just changing how you perceive a football player much like Florida has.

2014 Dual-Threat QB's

What do teams such as Clemson, Miami, OREGON, Louisville, Ole Miss, Ohio St, LSU, etc. have in common?

1. They are all in the top 25.
2. Half have came out of nowhere or made complete comebacks in the last 2 years.

Hell, Bo Wallace (Ole Miss) played H.S. ball in Pulaski,TN and went to JuCo after being rated a 2-star prospect and got only 1 offer.

Marcus Mariota, 3-star prospect. He got 2 offers. Oregon and Memphis.

Johnny Manziel, 3-star prospect. Oregon, Stanford, and Baylor all offered. After that, small timers.

Kenyon Barner. 3-star. Oregon and ASU offers.

LaMichael James. 4-star. Oregon, Miss St., and Arky offers.

Dion Jordan (recruited as a 4-star TE) . Oregon, Arizona, ASU offers. ZERO SEC offers.

Not happening. I thought that at one time too. But Oregon's pace would out match Bama'a shoddy defense right now. In case you didn't watch, their defense didn't "shut down" TAMU, Bama's offense just had to outscore them or lose.

To respond to your first paragraph. I think much of the rise and good recruiting for Org. came from the decline of SoCal and all the problems there having. The recruits there getting would normally went to SoCal, but who really knows. Jmo

Who knows until "if/when" they meet up...But you cant say enough about our 3 and outs...That was a HUGE factor in the shellacking we received....Bama gave up yardage to a spread team, but they were able to move the chains, burn clock, and score themselves...in other words, I dont think Oregon goes for 60 on them; their D is deeper, and it looks like they can avoid 30 straight minutes of 3 and out!!

I think anything can and will work if the coach is smart with developing talent and making adustments etc and brings in the right kids.

And those right kids execute. We can also see better discipline in these players.

Any offense can win the East it's about execution not the style of offense you run. As far as out recruiting people. That won't happen consistently until we start winning. When I say winning I mean going to a bowl game.

Just let it sink in a minute, one player on TA&M put up 600 yards of offense against Alabama. If that defense is going to shut down Oregon, I would love to see it. I think the Oregon team that we saw is something special. I was really impressed when they started clicking. You just have to commit to that style and build for it if that is the offense you want to run.

I wouldn't get carried away with this line of speculation. Those 40 points were put up almost single-handedly by arguably the best college football player in the country. Switch McCarron and Manziel in that game and I promise you the score looks a lot different.

Also, this is indeed my first official post. Been lurking VN since Gruden, though.
