Can / will Fulmer turn it around...

Not that I have any notion of pulling anyone out of their anti-Fulmer trenches, but here's a point for some perspective.
John Chavis catches little or no hell on this board, so I'm going to assume he has the respect of the overwhelming majority of you. Here is a man who has forgotten more ball than we will ever know. If JC believed that Fulmer was not up to the job, isn't it reasonable to think he would have taken his talents elsewhere by now? The NFL would love to have him. Maybe its a little bit of a reach for me, but if JC is ready to stick with Fulmer, why shouldn't we?

OK, fire away...

BTW, it really isn't hard to see why you joined the board...one of your first few posts stated

Fulmer is turning into a Jim Donnan, Ray Goff and even Ron Zook

Brillant. We have a historical genius on our hands

I'm happy you live in the past. But I'd rather be focused on what we can do in the future. Keeping things the way they were would guarantee we'd never see another NC. Defending Fulmer's actions in the past do nothing but say "I'd have been content with mediocrity. I had my one NC. I could care less if the program continued to stink for the next few years. I'd have even been fine with keeping the same personnel who caused us to go 5-6 and a national embarrassment."

You just referred to last year? Quit living in the past.

Hey, I like this game.

Bad seasons happen, you won't be here come next season thanks to the success we will have.

Why won't I?

Bad seasons happen? You're a fool for thinking this was just a bad season. You're an even bigger fool for being one who would have kept everyone on that staff who made the entire UT fanbase, alumni, etc. look like idiots this year.

THAT is why YOU don't coach. Thank God you don't.

That's sort of my point, Chavis does work for the man. Doesn't have to. Chooses to. Isn't that an endorsement in itself?

My guess is you will be in a corner crying somewhere about how Fulmer is bad for us and how terrible he is only to find everyone trying their best to hop back onto the bandwagon.

Happened in 2004 as everyone cried off of it in 2003

"The best thing about the future is that it only comes one day at a time." ~Lincoln

I wouldn't say that the people living in the past are in fact, living in the past. I could only assume that these past dwellers are looking back at what has been accomplished. That would be something you can't do with the future. If you have the gift and are able to delve into the future, then by all means, delve. To me, the past is a solid foundation and the future is, well, the future. Something that none of us know about.

He doesn't work for the man. He works for the program...for the school. It's about the program. While others think this whole thing is all Fulmer, it's not. It's the university...the sport. I'd like to think Chavis' loyalties are to the school and the program over Fulmer.

That is the problem with Rob Smith. It was all about JRS for him. Forget the program and the history it stands for.

While U-T makes his comments about "where you'll be next year", I'm not one more focused on the coach than the program. I will cheer for UT sports no matter what happens. I will not sell loyalty on EBay or burn everything orange I own, especially after a year like last. Insert whatever coach you want and I will still be cheering on the team. That DOES NOT mean I have to condone and like everything the coach does or says. Like I said before, Fulmer has done some phenomenal things. But what he's done in the past few years and letting the program come to this has lost a hell of a lot of my respect. Again I will say that does not mean it can't be regained. He finally made decisions that I thought should have been done long ago. Although late, I'm happy he made them. It's the first step. We'll see what happens in the next few months with recruiting and Spring practice. We'll go from there.

Ah, so was Sanders then.....so when Fulmer hires a good Coord...it is not Fulmer's credit...just the Coord....but when he hires a crappy one...it is ALL FULMER'S FAULT!

Does calling names and insulting people make you any better?

I don't consider it name-calling. I consider it calling a spade, a spade. Doesn't make me feel better either...knowing we have UT fans with the IQ of my lap dog really is quite depressing.

As for bitching, does that make you feel better?

WHAT!?!? That made NO sense and wasn't even on topic. Try reading the post and noting it has nothing to do with Fulmer's hiring. It had to do with Chavis and his loyalty and where his dedication is focused.
