Canes self report violations

In the Miami Herald this morning that the Miami Canes football program is self reporting recruiting violations that are from texting recruits and the NCAA is investigating this right now to see if minor or major recruiting violations against the Canes also investigating the baseball team and some other sports as well for same violations.

Question: Is texting recruits at all a violation or only during the dead period? Anybody know what the rule on that is? Just wondering?

yea its getting just plain stupid if you asked me....$300,000 for a player is one thing but man...why do these things need to be made public anyway?.....
