Cantor to the Woodshed | Swampland
We all know that Obama showed his best side recently when he marched out of the negotiations with the historically (and comically) fiscally irresponsible Repubs. Evidently, he dressed down Cantor too, taking him behind the woodshed- as he is still toadying to the Grover Norquist and other highly off-kilter (and of dubious sanity) elements. If Obama continues firing from the hip, he will win in a landslide (and hopefully actually prove worthy of his historic campaign and win).
All of the debt talk - whether here or Greece or Ireland or Egypt - is all farce, as I have said many times. It is part of the last desperate attempts of the bourgeoisie to hang on to a system that has served them so well for so long - a system that is clearly broken and without legitimacy. Saint-Simon lionized the banking clan, and their day is done. Military spending is not on the table; corporate welfare is not on the table; and Obama is willing to gouge the bottom 4/5ths with almost the same zeal as Grover and gang.
I thought default would never happen. However, the system is so devoid of legitimacy, and the divorce from the real world outside the back door is so complete in a healthy percentage of our population, I am not so sure. Optimism that a "safe landing" can be achieved as Late Capitalism continues its collapse is very, very, very difficult to hold with anyone grounded in the RWOTBD. Yet, without hope, what are we?
