Radical environmentalists vs organized labor.

Under cap-and-trade, industries would be forced to pay for expensive carbon credits or face massive fines. Some manufacturers would shut down facilities to fit under the cap or to seek a profit from selling their extra carbon credits. Other industries will simply relocate facilities, and the jobs that come with them, overseas.

Proponents of cap-and-trade refer to these job and industry losses as “leakage,” and concede there is no real answer for the problem, barring an international commitment from developing nations, which currently seems unlikely.

.........................
Obama also dashed hopes by big labor that developing nations would also face restrictive caps on emissions, stating that now “is not the time” to include countries like China and India.
........................

A recent Pew Research Center poll explains why. Americans’ primary concern is the economy and keeping jobs. Climate change is dead last on a list of 30 issues.

Leakage is what you get when you torpedo American industry and that is exactly what you get with cap and tax.

Let's hope this 'snag' is a fatal torpedo to cap and trade legislation.

Amen to that!

And Amen to your Amen! :eek:k:

Does anyone notice at all that American energy
policy is penalyzing of not outrightly destructive
to free nations and unrestrictive to socialist
nations??

Remember India was aligned with the USSR
thoughout the cold war.

This just gets curiouser and curiouser.

(I have been in danger of winning a spelling bee fwiw.) :)

The Zogby poll (which has shown bias toward
dims and muslims in the past) says odumbo's job
approval rating is down from a high of 62% to a
current 42%. In other words it's in free fall.

Ages 18-29
............ Aug. 31.... July 24........difference
Approve...... 41%....... 59%......... -18%
Disapprove.. 41%....... 38%....... + 03%
Not Sure..... 19%........ 03%....... + 16%

The 101% for Aug 31 must be accounting for
population groth.

Do I see a buyer's remorse setting in, perhaps they hoped for change but not changing to fascism?

In other words the hip hop generation may have not been hip to the direction of the hop before the hop was perceived not to be all that hip.

Oh, I've got it, it was the cash for clunkers program, those who were thinking ahead were penalized and the dead heads got a free $4,500 from nannie state.

I guess that would rub me the wrong way too if I were 18 to 29 years old.
