Who will be our captains this year? Right now I'd have to say that Sears, Harrell, and Swain would be captains, but who will be the 4th? Ligon? McBride? Mapu? Anderson? One of the DBs?

If it weren't for the off the field troubles, I would have guessed Mitchell. Probably looking at Hefney if I had to guess right now. McBride would be the next in line.

Mapu was a name that I threw out there because the coaches asked him if he could be a leader when he got back on campus. He could be a sleeper for captain. I'd like to see Wade be a captain.

I'd like the 4th to be a verbal leader, but I'm not sure who is verbal and who isn't.

I'm gonna throw a name out there......David Yancey! I know he doesn't play a lot but the coaches just rewarded him with a scholarship and CPF said he "is a true volunteer". I'm wondering how vocal he is? And I know there is some others qualifications but dang to be called a "True Volunteer" by the coach has to carry some weight. :dunno:

I think they need leaders on the field. They need guys that when games are going rough can lead by example. Yancey would be a good sideline captain, but we need captains that will be on the field.

Was he a captain his JR year? I thought it was only last year when he was a backup. Either way, Yancey is 4th/5th string. Foster, Hardesty, Coker, and maybe Williams are ahead of him.

Either way, if we are going for "true volunteer", why not go with JT Mapu? Very few, if any, players on this team has gone through what he went through last 2 years. And he may be starting within the first few games.

Yeah I agree with ya. It was just a thought. I guess we all are still looking for that "Al Wilson" type of captain but those are few and far between.

During Rick's junior year, CJ Leak was a senior. If they were going to name a backup QB a captain, I'm pretty sure it would be him. Rick's junior year was 2004, and I'm pretty sure the offensive captains were Michael Munoz and Tony Brown. On D you had Parys Harelson and Kevin Burnett. There might have been another one or two captains in there, but I'm pretty sure Rick wasn't a captain until his senior year.

I dont think we will ever have another Al Wilson. He was the perfect player; star linebacker, good person, leader, expert motivator, and kept the team in line.

I think CPF would take 3 out those 6......perfect player, leader, and motivator.

I'd have to guess that Sears and Harrell will be 2 of them.

Sears and Harrell are a given.

I'd probably add johnathon wade and turk mcbride.

I'm pretty sure Swain is pretty much a given at this point as well. He is really stepping up at WR and had a great offseason. He is likely the #1 WR on the depth chart.

Any time you read about the WR's they say that Swain is the vocal leader and leading by example also. I like Harrell, Sears and McBride too.
