What is a reliable, recommended brand these days? Seems like everyone just buys the off brands at Autozone and Advance Auto, apparently AAA even sells them now to members. I know Advance offers Die Hard now are these still worth pursuing?

I would bet many are made by the same manufacturer with just different branding. Just get the biggest one you can get to fit and has a couple year warranty.

Optima is by far the best but pretty pricey. Walmart sells interstate if you want good and cheap. The interstate battery I recently bought had the same CCA and same warranty (3 years) as the "gold" one at Advanced for about $60 cheaper.

I've heard it is important to check the date on a battery and buy one that hasn't been sitting on the shelf for over three months. Good luck!

True. I had to get a battery a couple of months ago. It had been quite awhile since I had to get one. I wasn't mentally prepared for the huge price jump. Probably should've went to Wal-Mart instead of Advance

In years past, interstate was the go to brand. You used to only get them at authorized dealers, not big box. I'm prob in the market soon and may go to WM and give that interstate a go if they were that much cheaper than the parts stores.

I have gotten a couple at Batteries Plus. They seem to be decent batteries and the 20-25% discount codes used at the time made them competitively priced with other auto stores, maybe Walmart as well.

Battery shop in Lenoir I have used sells blemishes, interstate, I bought two last year for the boat have a limited warranty. I just bought one for my F-150 v8, $60 buck with core exchange. I just couldn’t stand the price of advance/auto zone. It’s just a battery and I ain’t puttin it in the fair, They work great and look like new

Autozone (Duralast) batteries have been the largest selling batteries since the late 80's early 90's. If I remember, there used to only be a handful of manufacturers but they are built to different specifications much like any thing else.

I drive a hybrid, now. So, if/when I must replace its battery, it’ll cost as much as a used Harley.

Got a (going on) 7 year Duralast Platinum battery in my truck and in spouse's car. Has done the job much better than the original manufacturer's battery.

I'm apparently sitting on a 7 year old Autocraft battery. It still functions normally but when it was tested at 2 different shops it says to replace the battery, no CCA.

I think I got a plan now after a friend told me about Costco. They sell Interstate AGM batteries. The one for my car is only $99.99 with a 3 year warranty. The only downside is they don't install so I'll have to drop it in myself which should be relatively easy.
