Has anyone done it? And was it effective?

It’s cut-down season for me and I’m bored with my diet, thinking this might change it up some. I’ve heard really good things, but I also don’t like gimmick diets.

Haven't done it, but I do focus on just good carbs. Intermittent fasting is the bomb. 15-16 hours overnight for me without intake and the body just keeps on burning. I only eat during an 8 hour window.

And you eat as much as you want during that window?

I did keto + IF (10am - 6pm,) a few years ago and lost probably 20 pounds just from that, not even working out, and I wasn’t even that overweight. Went from 190ish to in the low 170s.

Unfortunately gained it all back after a move, COVID, and a new baby, but getting back on track.

Pretty much, but I keep it healthy. Lean protein, veggies, protein shakes, good fats. Ends up being around three thousand or so calories per day. A little less if I'm not getting in as many workouts that week. I allow for a cheat days too. Gotta have those! Went to the UT vs LSU game this past weekend. Afterwards we ended up at a sports bar and I did some serious damage to some wings, pizza and nachos!

I’m just not sure I understand the science behind this. Why is your metabolism not stopping dead in its tracks after a few hours of hunger?

I can't really quote the exact science, but it's because we've fed our body plenty during that eight hour window of eating....or at least we should have. Your body is still breaking that down when you go to bed. For me and my natural schedule and circadian rhythm, I work best if I go to bed around 11pm. By then, it's only been about four hours since I had my last meal, but I'm not going to bed hungry. By the time I get up, I'm still not hungry....it just takes me a while to get going. If I start getting hungry before I hit my eating window, I have coffee and/or chicken bone broth, drink water (one of the cheats that actually don't count against your fasting period). I usually never eat anything before 11am. Your body/metabolism will eventually adjust. Got to remember, I'm not eating a 2K a day diet. I'm eating three thousand + if I'm working out pretty hard. Your body is taking that time overnight to burn the hell out of your fat stores. That's where it fails a lot of people...they're not eating enough during their eating window. I'll say this, I don't think it would be nearly as effective for me if I tried to fast during the day. It just makes more sense for me to allow the bulk of my fasting to take place while I'm sleeping.

I’ve been intermittent fasting for a few months. I usually go 16/8 or 18/6 though I have some day that I will go 20/4.
Also do OMAD (one meal a day) occasionally.
I try not to gorge in my eating period but not always successful. My weight has been dropping fast.
Here three videos

I've been doing a relaxed version of IF for a while. I usually eat between 11-Noon and again around 7-8. Over the last few months my appetite has really gone down and my tastes are different. Things I would've "destroyed" in the past have very little to no interest to me now. Fried foods, for example. I still like fries but I air-fry them.

My biggest need is to cut back on drinking and being more active.

Has anyone tried a Lumen? Hack your metabolism | Lumen

If so, any feedback?

I haven’t heard of this. So it’s supposed to figure out if your body is using fat or carbs or muscle for energy?
