OG from Florence, Alabama committed to us today. I don't know anything about him. He is listed at 6-3 270.

Apparently our staff really, really likes Anderson as does Saban.

Saban will push for a switch, but Anderson loves the Vols and has been coming to games for quite some time.

is it odd that we're the only school that's offered him?

Can't have too many linemen, it'd be great if he possibly had skills to play center.

He had other offers. I am not sure why rivals does not have them listed. Alabama and Aurburn had not offered him but they are recruting him hard. I know Ole Miss offered. I am not sure who the others were but there were a couple other offers.

There's always one of 'em...

He's a '07 recruit, he doesn't have stars yet. I know you're joking, but at least make it sensible.

Heard some guys talking about him today at work. His family own Books-A-Million and are very wealthy but apparently a good kid and not likely to pull a Cannon Smith. He has his own personal trainer and likely will come to UTK as a walkon, I suspect. Either his Dad or uncle (or both) played in the early '70's for Bill Battle and I think are big supporters of UT. They are a prominent family in this area.

so he's going to walk-on out of the goodness of his heart and his love for the Vols...so we can have another scholly to hand out? I'll believe that when I see it, even the wealthy kids want to be known as a scholarship player.

If he comes in as a walk on... he will be the Dane Bradshaw of the football team.. no doubt.. :)

I dont think he is walk-on material. He is better than that. And, he has a scholarship offer so I assume he is going to accept the scholarship as opposed to turnign it down.

He isn't walk-on material, but it sounds like he may walk on just to keep from taking up a valuable scholly.

as I stated earlier...I'll believe that when I see it happen, it's kind of funny because Im preaching my first Easter sermon tomorrow morning and Doubting Thomas is central to the message.

The article I read did say that his Dad and his Uncle played at UT. It also said he had grown up surrounded by Orange and had always been a Volunteer lean. It also said they had told him he would probably be a Center or a Guard when he got to Knoxville.

I feel very good about a kid that has talent and really wants to wear the orange and comes from a Vol family.
