Just bought tix for Friday night's concert. Doubt many here know who they are, but I love 'em. This'll be the fourth time I've seen them. They were at Riverbend last year....phenomenal!!!

My wife loves them. I on the other hand just don't get the whole genre.

Second favorite act behind Tomlin

That's who's gonna be a Riverbend this year! I can't wait!!! We've seen Casting Crowns, Third Day, Steven Curtis Chapman, and Mercy Me. It's always on Tuesday night during the festival, they call it Faith and Family night, and they don't serve alcohol on that one night. And, the weather is ALWAYS perfect, lol. Thanks God!

I "like" them, and I most certainly respect them. But taste-wise, I'm a little edgier with my Christian music, I suppose. I think I'd still enjoy seeing them live though, so have fun vollygirl.

Oh, my catalog is full and pretty varied but when I'm listening to Christian music it seems like it cycles more in the realm of:

Switchfoot
Jeremy Camp
Sent By Ravens
Relient K
Skillet
Sanctus Real
David Crowder Band
Underoath
The Classic Crime
Flyleaf
This Beautiful Republic

But for softer styles, I really enjoy Phil Wickham and Shawn McDonald a lot.

When I worked at VW, Switchfoot did a concert as part of the employee appreciate day thing. It was awesome!! They are so much fun to hear in person!

What classifies something as Christian music

Good question. I don't know how they categorize particular artists.

For example, Switchfoot doesn't promote themselves as "Christian" artists, even though they are Christians. Casting Crowns, on the other hand, uses their music as a way to try to reach people about Christ.

Really good question.

Agreed, it's a really grey area for a lot of artists. But when I know an artist is Christian (and they create/write their own music) then I find myself tuning in subconsciously on their "frequency" for lack of a better word. I hear the spirituality in the lyrics a lot of times even if there's not a single mention of God, etc.
