Winning on Saturday wasn't just about beating South Carolina, or beating a ranked team, or even winning a conference game. Winning on Saturday was carthatic, it was 4+ years of frustration and disappointment being released. I haven't felt that good after a win since 98 Florida when 5 years of torment was forgotten in an instant. It isn't always going to be pretty and we've got more bumps in the road ahead (not being negative, just illustrating my point) but I have never been more optimistic about the direction of the program.

What I have seen is a team that has gotten better every.single.game and a coaching staff that hasn't panicked. The staff has stuck to their message, they haven't tried to get cute with their playcalling to mask defiecencies and the players are all in. Good things happen when you can get kids motivated to play like our kids have. Indeed the future is bright, the next brick in the foundation is getting bowl eligible.

It's been a long time coming, even in the end of the Fulmer years I didn't have the feeling that UT was headed in the right direction. Team 117 is getting better day by day, and the recruiting this coaching staff has done has shown they know how to spot talent. Vereen, North, and Sutton are all making plays along with other young players. We are getting more out of the guys that have underperformed in years past. I'm not saying we are competing for championships just yet, but it is the first time in 10 years that I feel like the program is headed back in that direction.. quickly.

In 40 plus years as a fan TENNESSEE football runs in cycles and we are fixing to kick azz for the next 10 to 12 years, then people will complain that we went 9 and 3, if a cab driver every says coach Jones is just a 10 win coach I will shake his hand instead of punching him in the nose.:lolabove:

A lot of young people don't know what coach Fulmer meant to Tennessee and how good of a coach he really was, the man did bring us a NC in 98 the first sense the fiftys and he is a HALL OF FAME COACH.:salute:
