Sadly, the weaknesses that got us beat by Mizzou are infinitely exploitable by UGa, as you'll see if you watch this tape study.
I continue to be impressed by this youtuber. He does a great job breaking down key plays, isolating exactly what went wrong or how each hero stepped up to make it a success. He's smart enough to know what he doesn't know (for instance, often points out when he doesn't know the play call, whether a play really was an RPO, really was zone or man coverage, etc.).
And yeah, it's hard to watch. Our lads stunk in the Mizzou game. Our coaching stunk in the Mizzou game. So think of this as medicine, if you wish.
Who should watch this video? Anyone who thinks it's all Joe Milton's fault. Anyone who thinks there weren't any coaching errors, that it was all bad execution (though there were certainly a large number of mistakes in execution, too). Anyone who wants to know where the soft spots are in our roster right now, and what needs to get better in the off-season. Finally, anyone who REALLY wants to know what's going on in detail on the field. You learn a lot watching videos by good analysts like this fella.
Who shouldn't watch this video? Anyone who has a simplistic view of "what's wrong" (or "what's right") and doesn't want their perspective challenged. And anyone who is bound and determined to blame it all on Joe or Banks or Martinez or _______. Each of those fellas gets some blame, but it's not primarily any one of them...in fact, in the Mizzou game two or our best-respected position coaches, Rodney Garner and Glen Elarbee, have perhaps the two worst-performing units on the field [spoiler: we got beat on the line of scrimmage more than anywhere else, both sides of the ball].
So anyway, I'd say enjoy, but this won't be enjoyable unless you're a fan of a rival team. But I hope you get some useful insights.
And let's hope against hope that our coaches can get a lot of this cleaned up in one short week, and we can surprise UGa and the world on Saturday.
Go Vols!
p.s. And bonus round, here's Josh Pate's breakdown of the upcoming game.
