Better than 3 tournaments in 8 years and never making it out of the first weekend? A&M just fired a coach with two sweet 16s lol and they don’t have near the history.

Reporters saying that Arkansas could pay up to $4 million for the next coach and they believe it will be the first time ever at Arkansas that the basketball coach makes more than the football coach

History? You had a great seven year run with a coach you fired and have never even come close to getting back to. You haven’t won a conference title since 2000, haven’t won’t a tourney title since 1994, and a Sweet Sixteen since 1996! Youre history contains a run and disappointment since. Anderson struggled this year but young team and has recruited well.

You’re not getting anyone better than Anderson. Congrats on getting a mid major coach who may have the made the tourney this year.

Nebraska has parted ways with coach Tim Miles after seven seasons, the team announced on Tuesday.

The favorite to replace Miles is former Iowa State and Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg, multiple sources told ESPN. Hoiberg, 46, was fired by the Bulls in December but has interest in returning to college basketball. He was also linked to the vacant UCLA job, but Nebraska has already reached out to him and there is mutual interest from Hoiberg, sources told ESPN.

According to a report by @goodmanhoops, Northwestern assistant Billy Donlon will be named as the head coach at UMKC. It sounds like the presser will take place on Friday.

Donlon was the head coach at Wright State from 2010-16 (109-94), and then spent time as an assistant at both Michigan and Northwestern.

Is Mississippi State football a better job than Tennessee football then, using that logic? We had success before Nolan so it wasn't just a "7 year run" unless you've never heard of Eddie Sutton. The facilities and fan support at Arkansas are better than the vast majority of the other teams in the SEC.

Anderson has not recruited well. He inherited a top 10 class from Pelphrey but lost out on guys like Archie Goodwin, Malik Monk, KeVaughn Allen, Reggie Perry, etc. Having a young team in year 8 is not a good excuse, especially when he got blown out in the first game of the tournament with 6 seniors last year. Schools with little support for basketball like Auburn and LSU having success doesn't help him even if it is clouded by controversy.

If it is Kelvin Sampson he has a much better resume than Anderson:

614-323
15 NCAA Tourneys
1 Final Four
2 Elite Eights
3 Sweet Sixteens
5 Conference Championships
3 Conference Tourney Titles
4 time Conference Coach of the Year
21 seasons of 20 of more wins

Robert Ehsan head coach of UAB is an up and comer and would be an interesting candidate for the Arkansas head coaching job.

  • South Dakota State head coach T.J. Otzelberger is gaining momentum at UNLV. He’s has three very successful seasons with the Jackrabbits, going 70-33 with two Summit League Championships. Fogler is running this search.
  • VERY early names at BYU: Mark Pope (Head Coach Utah Valley – former BYU assistant), Mark Madsen (assistant coach – LA Lakers), and DeMarlo Slocum (assistant coach – Utah).
  • Early hot name at Arkansas is obviously Kelvin Sampson. Arkansas AD Hunter Yurachek hired Sampson at Houston, so the connection is obvious. Keep and eye on Tulsa’s Frank Haith here as well. Really, really early though…
  • I’ve heard from multiple sources that the core group at Appalachian State is Gardner-Webb’s Tim Craft, Campbell’s Kevin McGeehan, Radford’s Mike Jones, Presbyterians Dustin Kerns, and and former Charlotte head coach Bobby Lutz. This one could be wrapped up soon.
  • Speaking Jones, heard he’s also involved at Elon. I’ve also heard Ohio State assistant Mike Schrage mentioned here.
  • Tim Miles name linked to possible Indiana State job if it becomes open

If Frank Haith is on the short list, Arkansas would be better off just shutting the program down.

Sampson would be a good hire sure, but I don’t believe that’s gonna happen.

Arkansas hasn’t been relevant in basketball in 20 years. Kentucky, Tennesssee, Florida are clearly better jobs and I would have a couple other places ahead of Arkansas. Sure you had a young team in 2019, that’s not ideal. But Anderson would build on that and get you back in the tournament.

I refuse to believe Arkansas will get a legitimate head coach until I see it.

I could see it. Arkansas has kind of an under the radar, sneaky good basketball history. It's arguably better than the football program's, and definitely more recent. It was a long time ago now, but people remember the mid 90s.

Wonder if Missouri would entertain the idea of getting rid of Martin and bringing back Anderson

Tennessee hasn't won a conference tournament since the 70s. One Elite 8 appearance in HISTORY. Arkansas has a natty, a runner up, another FF and at least one more Elite 8. If Men's Basketball can become relevant at Tennessee, Arkansas CERTAINLY has the money, finances and resources to resurrect their basketball program.
